We two did a private tour of St. Petersburg / Moscow. Our hotel (the Pushka) had an English-speaking staff, was literally around-the-corner from the Hermitage, and if the Czar was still living there, we would have routinely been invited over for tea as his next-door neighbors. With Michael as our private guide, and Nicholas as our private driver from door-to-door all day long, we had the greatest convenience in travel and expert answers to all of our questions about history, culture and everything else. They made special detours so I could get my smartphone activated on the Russian phone system. A private lunch, always something classically Russian but different each day, was waiting for us at a different restaurant each day. This is a once-in-a-lifetime trip for most of us, and the extra cost of doing it as a private tour was certainly worth it! The sites were well-selected, and each day was planned to be long enough for us to learn and enjoy, without being so long that it tired us. Not too short, not too long, just right. We added the "Feel Yourself Russian" folkshow to our program, an excellent and fun evening, but wish we had attended it earlier in our trip instead of near the end. TravelAllRussia has obviously refined its programs over the years to be both meaningful and fun, and I would use them again.

My trip to Moscow, St. Petersburg and the Golden Ring is the most memorable trips I have ever had. I would recommend Travel All Russia to anyone considering a trip to Russia. The cities are incredibly beautiful daytime and nighttime. The evening trips to Moscow by Night and the evening boat ride in St. Petersburg showed the cities at their finest. I was fortunate to have 2 extra days in Moscow and had time to explore Red Square at liesure. I would recommend that anyone planning a trip to Russia include at least 2 extra days in both Moscow and St. Petersburg. The same advice for the Golden Ring where there is so much history to experience. It is completely safe to explore these three places even on your own. The company Travel All Russia provides top notch guides who speak English very well and and vary knowledgeable about Russian history and culture. The hotels were top quality, the food was the best I have had on any trip. I experienced so many positive surprises about the three areas I visited. We in North America only here negative things about Russia, most of it for political reasons. We never hear anything positve. That is our loss. Russia is safe, peaceful and beautiful and the Russia people have freedom of press, speech, religion and economy. I am so impressed with Russia that I hope to return for another trip.

We had a customized itinerary, specific to our interests, that covered Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia, and Russia (St. petersburg and Moscow). Travel All Russia did a great job considering the complexities of travel in that region. Without exception the guides were personable and well informed and, while we did have a few transfers that didn't go as smoothly as we would have wished, I would wholeheartedly recommend them.

TAR exceeded expectations in every way. Our trip on the Volga from Moscow to St. Petersburg was half the price of Viking Cruises. The MS Lenin was spotless, the food was ok (not great but ok) and the service was most attentive. Because there was a mixup in scheduling TAR make it right by giving us two free nights at the Raddison in St. Petersburg and a free tour with guide at Peterhof. Since my wife and I were the only English speakers on the ship, we had our own "private" English speaking guide every day. Each time I attempted to contact their office before and during the trip, I got immediate and helpful response.

I did a cruise from St Pettersburg to Moscow in June 2014. I found the staff to be very friendly and helpful especially the hostess who was appointed to the English speaking people on board. If you are expecting to fine the cabins/food/wine at the standard of a high class cruise liner you would pay 3 times as much for, you will be disappointed. If you are looking for value for dollars paid, you will not be disappointed. The cabins are small and the bathrooms a bit of a challenge but clean. The off shore excursions were the best I have encountered, local people with a great passion for what they do. I would recommend this cruise if you are looking for a good experience of the culture and scenery of Russia.

Chose TAS as it appeared to offer more bang for the buck than other companies-I looked at and spoke with 10 travel agencies,plus my nephew and cousin as both are very familiar with Russia prior to deciding. More day tours were included in their package than anyone else.Cost per person was 2000.00 excluding air fares and most meals except for breakfast. We chose the 2 cities group and went in sept of 2014. I booked sept 2013 before the issues began with the Crimea and the Ukraine. These events raised a lot of concern particularly with my adult children.My niece and I decided we did not wish to lose our money and went. We tacked on an extra day at the beginning and 2 at the tours completion through TAR so had extra costs which were well worth it. Ben Schulze at TAR is a gem. No question was too small and everything that we requested worked out well. The majority of people were friendly and helpful. I am elderly and both on the Metros and busses I was immediately offered a seat if there was standing room only. our group of 16 was very international-Australia, US, UK, Ireland, Canada and South Africa were represented and we almost all enjoyed each other. The tour included airport transfers, all admission fees, train transfer to St Petersburg, all breakfasts and 2 lunches and visa application if handled through TAR. We were a mixed group of ages , the guides were good and we found we could eat reasonably particularly in St Petersburg as there were a lot of restaurants near by. this was a tour which flew by. I would have liked the opportunity to have had an evening session discussing present day Russia as it is a vast and fascinating country-I left with more questions than answers. my niece and I chose to visit the Blockade Museum and an enormous cemetery in St Pete to pay our respects to the thousands of regular citizens who died during the siege of Leningrad in WW2. Both were powerfully moving and I was glad that we went. There is much more to tell but hope that this helps anyone thinking about going-do go! Mary O'Donnell
