The right step for those who are serious about making a life change.
The Recovery Village has helped me work my way back to sobriety. This was my first experience with rehab and I wasn’t sure what to expect, but the staff was great and really invested in my recovery. Being in a caring environment with people who know what they’re doing really helped me see this through.
Being in treatment with others helped me get perspective that I wasn’t alone and that recovery was a real possibility. The classes and therapy have given me tools to help deal with the triggers and habits that drove my substance abuse. It’s a serious program, but the outcome has been worth it. I really feel like I’ve gotten my life back and I am so grateful to the staff who supported me and helped make it happen..
This was the first step of a long journey, but I definitely feel like I made the right choice!

Detox too fast.
I loved most of the staff. However, I left early because I felt the detox process was too rapid. I believe I would have been successful had someone listened to me and adjusted the process accordingly. Other than that, I would recommend Palmer Lake and would like to return for treatment as I am still looking for help. The anxiety I was experiencing caused me to behave poorly and was the reason I left the facility far earlier than I should have.

Close but not quite there...
The staff was great. The facility was well maintained. The food was basically from a high school cafeteria, and they were still making budget cuts on the food so I fear what quality it is now. The therapists and the treatment offered was spot on. Unfortunately the enforcement of the rules was a complete joke. There was simply too many clients for the number of staff members there. People would do everything from "hooking up" when no-one was looking, to sneaking food and cigarettes like we were in jail. There was little to no consequence for the improper actions of the clients. They need to hire more staff to avoid these loop-holes. This should be recovery, not a bottom-line financial operation.

Good experience
I felt the staff was very helpful and understanding. The facility was excellent. The medical staff was efficient but in reviewing the bill I have a hard time understanding $450 for a 10 minute visit. I will address that through proper channels.
Overall, very pleased with my time there. The nursing staff was stellar, and I would pay a daily fee as an outpatient to come and enjoy the food.
My only disappointment was having to be moved to a different room after the detox process was complete. I expressed I felt comfortable in my room, and going through the process I wanted to stay in my original room for familiarity and consistency. Others in the facility at the time were granted this request.

If you wish to live clean and sober, this place will help you.
I am a heroin addict. I grew up in Rhode Island and had a wonderful family, but this illness doesn't discriminate. After ruining my life enough in RI, I was offered the option to receive treatment in Florida. After attending The Recovery Village inpatient program I knew I wanted to start fresh in FL. This place, Next Step Village, allowed me to do just that. I was never one to have much structure but this place provided me with a structured living environment that allowed me to focus on what was important, which is working a program of recovery and developing life skills. I want to stress the experience I had was due to the willingness to do anything required of me to stay clean and sober. At first the rules and the client drama seemed a dooming facet of this program, an unnecessary distraction that could be harmful to my recovery, but I learned how this experience was really benefiting me. It gave me perspective. Everywhere I go there will be problems of some sort but it is how I deal with them that defines me. Structure was what I needed. Following directions was what I had to learn. In terms of amenities, this is the best facility I have ever seen. Basketball, volleyball, a pool, beautiful views of the lake out back are all included. Beautiful brand new kitchen and daily cleaning keeps the place like new. I want to express my deepest gratitude for the owner, Mitch, for caring about each and every client and always being there if anyone needed help. You truly are an inspiration to me. The two house managers, Keith and Mike, for being more than a house manager but a friend. If you are serious about your recovery and wish to lead a life of happiness, I strongly recommend this facility. Remember, you can build a new life if you work the right path, and this place has all the tools.

This place is a saving grace. The staff (Mitch, Cynthia, Melissa, Mike, Alyssa, Keith and more) were from the very start caring, passionate, and sincere in helping me personally to grow in recovery. The support and structure provided from the community here has given me a new sense of hope. I am so blessed to have this place and the wonderful people here in my life as I continue on my journey of sobriety!

Just do it!!!
Great place to focus on sobriety and learn the life skills to stay sober. It's no walk in the park or spa at a resort. You actually have to go to classes, threapy, doctor appointments and more. You are surrounded by staff that actually care about you and other addicts who embrace you knowing that we are all going through the same struggles in life. Food and lodging is adequate and not fancy. It took me about 3 days in rehabilitation when I actually laughed so hard that my belly hurt....my first sober laugh in many years. I'm still sober and keep in touch with friends I met there. If you're looking to get sober and start life in a new direcrion, go to this place. It's worth it.
