They employed a sexual predator and violated my HIPPA. Nothing worse than having someone violate your mental health privacy while trying to survive a major depressive episode. The persons who violated my HIPPA were my private counselor and her fiancée that both work there. Tannin you disgusting predator I hope you're in jail where you belong. They also stole my stuff, refused to return mail to me that arrived after I ran out of there and got help at a facility that isn't about the money. I'm afraid even after calling corporate that I'm still going to have to pursue legal action. Stay away from Recovery Village Kansas City. Also, every single time I've tried to get their corporate number to lodge a complaint I have been hung up on by the people who are supposed to be compassionate advisors. Unless you have a drug addiction stay away. Their SUDs program worked well for a family member.

Rachel the therapist is the WORST
Rachel the therapist is the WORST! if you have her, get a different one IMMEDIATELY because they wont allow you to change therapists after awhile. I wanted to go to a different place. why? because there were a LOT of clients sneaking in drugs and alcohol. we even had a meeting about it. so i told her that im leaving. what did she do? she waited until i left the room and told my parents that im quitting on being sober! what! the next thing i know, my mom called CRYING asking me why i was quitting?! WOW are you serious? so i had to explain to them why i wanted to go to a different place, not QUIT. btw im still sober til this day, thank you very much. Also, her "therapy skills" is to just ask "why?" why? why? one time i remember she thought she was being smart and interrupted group to ask someone why why why and a fight broke out. the other counselors had just calmed the situation. shes full of herself. she literally told us a story of how racist she is and how full of herself she is. and she definitely gives off the impression that shes better than you because she isnt a drug addict. literally WORST therapist ever. shes also friends with the boss, like best friends apparently which is why she never gets in trouble.

This place is THE WORST!
(wish I could leave zero stars) This place is THE WORST! When it comes to communication, understand that once your loved one has been admitted, speaking with them, getting ANYONE to pickup the phone or return messages, is IMPOSSIBLE! I believe that the lack of access to my sister led to her release AMA (against medical advice) and now being unmedicated and apparently living with another addict/mental patient. There was an ROI (release of information) on file for me, however no one would ever return my messages.
Trying to find good care for a loved one in crisis is difficult. Don't make the mistake that I made!!
They will happily take your money and leave you with nothing in return!!

Bull crap
Well first I'm calling trying to get help or resources for help only to get disconnected several times before talking with someone .. finally get a hold of someone an dude is saying 900 a day for help which Is way more I even spend in a week on the drugs I'm trying to get off of .. then he hang up on me when trying to ask a question about the number he just gave me... How do people expect addicts to get sober when the help provided is so expensive or the people helping have never experienced their own demons with drugs before themselves... You can't get the help you need to get off drugs these days... People are trying to get clean an live a better life but society an the government makes it hard an to expensive to get it done

CONCERNING ISSUES - DO NOT RECOMMEND: Erroneous charges, and deficiencies within Recovery Village’s recruitment, assessment, billing, and patient care practices – STAY AWAY!
In March 2023, my 20-year-old son sought treatment at Recovery Village. This facility promised to address both mamajuana misuse and mental health issues. However, upon arrival, RV attempted to medicate him without conducting a proper assessment. They even sold him cigarettes, despite his age. Furthermore, my son was placed in a room with individuals who did not share his demographic or specific issues even though the recruiter insisted this would not happen. After two days, he left. RV also recruited my son with the understanding the charges would be around $900 per night, with insurance covering expenses after the deductible and co-insurance were met. However, my son received a bill for the two days totaling $6,764, which later mysteriously changed to $5,200 after my son requested an itemized bill. The billing department provided rude and unhelpful responses, and my son was told to take the matter up with the insurance company. It seems Recovery Village arbitrarily came up with a $2,600 per night charge, deducting the $600 paid by insurance, to conveniently end up with $2,000 per night ($4,000 total) due to apply to deductible and coinsurance! Since my son only stayed 2 nights, they over billed more than 200% to try to get the $4,000 in deductible and co-insurance that would have accrued over a months’ time. The insurance company confirmed that the provider had agreed to accept the contracted amount, but the facility dismissed these concerns and offered a 40% reduction if paid immediately. Additionally, my son is receiving separate bills for all medications he refused to take, requiring direct contact with the pharmacy. If my son had stayed the full month, it is likely he would have been overmedicated and left with unresolved issues, along with a potential bill of $78,000. RV’s deceptive practices not only harm their reputation but also erode trust in the integrity of all treatment centers. These erroneous charges, and deficiencies within recruitment, assessment, billing, and patient care practices are concerning. Treatment centers should uphold the highest standards of professionalism, ethics, and accountability to provide genuine help to those in need, Unfortunately, RV falls short of meeting these expectations. I strongly advise individuals to stay away from Recover Village.

Terrible therapy
Terrible therapy. Not 12 step base. Barely CBT. Not DBT. Trauma Therapist tells clinical director everything about patient's session then patient immediately discharged for bogus reasons. Like finical even though patient willing to be a self pay. Patients' rooms horrible. Hospital beds in each room and no televisions. Worst alcoholic and mental health treatment facility.

Please look elsewhere!
Okay where do I start. Honestly I've only been to two treatment facilities recovery Village obviously one of them. I had quite a different experience at recovery Village than I had at my first. Now obviously rehabs not supposed to be a day at the park, it's supposed to be an experience that breaks you down and something that truly makes you look inside yourself. Well I got none of that from this experience here. Now if you're looking or a place to go and fu** at, a place where you can smoke cigarettes then this is the place for you. I'll tell you what there are individuals at this facility that actually care Denise being one of them she was a wonderful therapist and counselor but this place is a revolving door for people who really don't want help at least a vast majority and are just looking for somewhere that takes cheap insurance. Now what dictates the length of your stay is how much your insurance is going to pay not how sick you are or how bad your addiction is. I could sit here all day and tell you horror story after Horror Story. Every day was a new adventure not knowing what was going to go down that night. I was actually pretty anxiety-inducing one night we had a nurse just walk out well she was giving meds hysterically crying so none of us got medication until 2 in the morning. Nobody got hurt unless you made a huge deal and I'm not that type of guy I just wanted to make my stay a drama-free as possible but if you don't speak up closed mouths don't get fed. The nurses well none of them are on the same page what so ever. You have 50 patients all waiting in line for medication and if they can't find your medications well then you don't get that medication Point Blank. I was on 20 mg of Lexapro daily and instead of ordering 20 mg of Lexapro like you would think a normal nurse would do they were giving me two 10 mg tablets so when I departed from that place I had a supply of maybe three days, 6 tablets what's left me absolutely. Alicia who's in charge of setting up your appointments for when you leave so you're not trying to do a thousand things at once while trying to take care of your family and get back to work and worry about the appointment you have to set up for your medications that you need to keep a level head well she set up an appointment for me about a month and a half out so that left me absolutely screwed oh, none the less I had to take things into my own hands and MacGyver that and make that happen. In the meantime I needed to get my Lexapro I could not stray off that medication and I needed to get my mood stabilizer besides those two medications they left me with almost none of. They're supposed to give you a prescription that would last until the appointment they set for you so I called recovery Village and left message after message for Alicia, the medical director David Sloan, the nursing staff, and the medical staff. Finally on the third day I get a hold of Alicia who directs me to the medical staff's direct line and she said she would contact my provider. I then called my provider and asked if anybody had contacted them from recovery Village and they said no, I called later in the day and asked once again they said no nobody has called me so I gave them recovery Villages number and nobody answered then. I just gave up on your recovery Village completely and I was forced to go off with my medication for 4 days until my appointment. Yeah they really care about you over there let me tell you.. I paid just the same amount of money I said paid at the other treatment center. My advice is just do you research and get yourself better insurance before doing something like this. I do want to add that the text we're absolutely great! Wayne is the man and the nicest person I've met in my entire life. He will be invited to my wedding that's for damn sure. God bless everyone!
