We have been paying on a Hartford accident insurance policy through AAA since 2007. We have had absolutely no claims during that whole time. Recently I had an accident and had to have a knee replacement. It took a lengthy time to fill out all the paperwork then I was required to send more paperwork, and in the end the claim was denied! Since I did not rush to the emergency room immediately and waited a few days to see if my knee was OK I was denied. I resubmitted the paperwork for review and it was still denied. I would not recommend this insurance policy to anyone! It is a waste of your money! They are also extremely slow in getting back with you. And you spend long minutes on the phone waiting to talk to a representative when you call. Steer clear of this accident insurance.

I've been out of work (home depot) for a little over a month now. My back condition is getting worse to where i cant even walk. Probably about to need a second back surgery. Been dealing with the hartford for the past few weeks. Customer service has been horrible. I've sent in all requested documents multiple times and my doctors have filled out and faxed all necessary documents. Still seems like nothing is happening. All phone representatives aren't being helpful at all

I have had a STD policy with Hartford for over 20 years. Never filed a claim until now. I need to take time away from work to deal with trauma I sustained throughout my life. Unfortunately it is now affecting my day to day life. I filed a STD claim over a month ago and after sending all my paperwork… my therapist being on deck to fill them out and answer all their questions… my case has been in pending status for two weeks. No one helps you… in fact they remind you that your therapy is your problem not theirs. This insurance company is not backed by the BBB and the complaints on the BBB website echo all the ones here. I wish I didn’t have to give them my hard earned money twice a month for the last 20 years!!!

To say this was the worst experience dealing with an insurance company, is an understatement. I Left State Farm because of their Horrific customer service after I had an accident. The Hartford has not taken over the place of the worst customer service. This time Thank Goodness I didn't have an accident, but my truck broke down in the middle of a busy Highway and tried for 45 minutes to get any kind of assistance on the phone. I started every sentence with DO NOT SEND ME TO THE AUTOATTENDANT... because the Only thing that came from that was that system telling me to download an App to get assistance. ARE YOU F'ing kidding me? I'm in the middle of a busy highway and I WANT TO SPEAK TO A PERSON. They should be ashamed of themselves. OH and if you're an AARP Member, you need to call a completely different area but you don't hear about that until you've wasted 30 minutes being sent, by EVERY CS Rep, to the Auto Attendant. SHAME on YOU Hartford. I WILL Be reaching out to AARP as well so they know that being connected to you is an embarrassment!!

I would give NEGATIVE five stars if I could. These a^^holes are impossible to deal with! Just calling to try to get a new quote was extremely frustrating, as people continually refused to help me, refused to connect me with a supervisor, hung up on me, and generally treated me like crap! Look at their reviews! Ever see a business with a one star rating? This has to be the worst company in the entire country!

I've been with the Hartford a total over approx 10 years out of the last 13. Never a claim, paid premiums in full every year never less than a perfect driver. This year (2024) I got a speeding violation for the first time in approx 8+years. My premium went up by $700+ a > 50% increase. I spoke with CS about this increase but tho she was nice about it she could offer no resolution. Per the comercial benefit include accident forgiveness & disappearing deductible. Is this believable since the penalty for a minor violation is so steep?? I dropped them as soon as renewal came around. Don't trust Hartford, they take your money gladly but beware the penalty if you are less than perfect!! Do Not Trust The Hartford To Treat You Fairly!!! So how to write a useful review of the Hartford...pay special attention to the previous sentence....plus all the other reviews ...net experience is 1 lonely but telling star!

My mother was insured for 20 years with this company and suddenly dropped from her homeowners insurance. No explanation, no grace period. They said they sent a letter in 2021 that they needed to do an inspection. Letter was never received yet they renewed her for 3 more years then suddenly decide to drop her out of the blue. The customer service is terrible, the agents are disrespectful. They did not even attempt to try to help. Do not waist your time with this company. Bad business practices. Go to State Farm instead!

A slight accident when two lanes merged into one and another car scrapeD me. Their passenger side view mirror tatooed my drivers side leaving 5 black marks which I easily cleaned off. Their mirror casing had two marks on it. The Hartford awarded the other driver $6,000 for some bizarre reason. This has, of course, raised my premiums. Attempts (for months) to get them to review claims have gone nowhere. BEWARE THE HARTFORD
