I wish I could give the Hartford ZERO stars! As a small business owner, I noticed my premiums kept going up yearly. I had no claims and no changes to the structure of my business. When I called to cancel the policy, I have had to make 6 phone calls and 5 emails and STILL getting emails about future bills. When I called my account manager (Christopher Kellems) he was very aloof and unprofessional. He gave me the run around and I told me to call several other departments to cancel the policy AGAIN! Talk about frustration…ugh! I told him that the same energy and customer service I received when signing up with them should be given when I’m canceling. I’m highly disappointed!

Never again...
I had the HartFord auto insurance through AARP. I paid in advance for 6 months. The renewal period came up and with no email/call/text, they canceled my auto policy. I had autopay set-up through their portal. As I was speaking with the insurance rep, I told her that the payment method was on my account and the autopay symbol was right above that. But she don't care. Now that it was over 31 days the policy cannot be renewed and she tells me I have to wait 1 year to sign up again. No Thanks. Now since it been over 31 days, no other insurance company is willing to insure me. Before the HartFord, I have been with AAA for 20+ years and never had a problem. Been with the hartford for 6 months an they screwed up my history.

I NEVER leave reviews but they playing…
I NEVER leave reviews but they playing with my money. So I have been disabled since Sept 18th 2024 and to this day I have not received any payment and yes I was approved.
1st they don’t tell you you have to be disabled for 2 weeks BEFORE they can approve you so if you don’t have PTO or money in the bank your going to financially drown out the gate
2nd the web portal don’t work it’s always buffering
3rd I sent in a form for direct deposit on oct 1st and was supposed to receive my first payment on oct 11th the 11th no money man F this I’m not about to type all this stupid stuff they do and did to me. Just experience it for yourself they ARE HORRIBLE. It’s now oct 15th and still no money. I hope I never need them again and if I do F that I’ll just push thru the pain and stay disabled and my last name is Coles So yes Hartford look me up and you’ll see

hasnt done anything .wont give overpayment back, like it was a donation? where would someone come up with such an idiotic stand of policy? if it reads like that, doesnt someone see its ludicrous
my car was stolen.i had parked it , and went overnight with a friend, coming back to see my car is gone, i call the police, tell them what i know, end of call.
i wait a couple weeks to call the hartford, i was hoping to get a call from the police that they had found it. nothing. i call the hartford, tell them about it, they ask for police report, there is an incident report, not a police report, because i didnt go to the police station.
i was not told to do anything about going anywhere, when i had hung up, i thought police report was done and complete.
meanwhile..i get a job offer to drive a ladies u haul to texas from california, not my profession, but a good offer.
two weeks later i call to see if theres any news on my car, the police say no, i call the hartford, the lady looks into it,and says 20 miles from where id left it, an unlicensed driver had been driving it, he got a ticked and the car got towed.
the previous owner had then been contacted and had picked the car up.
by my count, thats 2 people that shouldnt have had the car
. still in texas , hartford says they cant do anything till i get back to california. the claim is on hold.
i get back from texas, call hartford, they say its up to me to go after the previous owner, a civil matter, and, no i cant have or use the 6 months of payments i had made ,credited to my now monthly bill.
why wouldnt the hartford mention that i dont have to keep paying the monthly? why send the bill if i didnt have to pay? where would someone find out answers to questions like that? no one i know has had a simil;ar situation with an insurance company. i pay for full coverage, and get no representation? i have to go after the previous owner? why me? i feel as though he stole the car. the un licensed driver that got the ticket stole the car, and the hartford does nothing, sends me bills that i pay, then when i figure it out that they havent, or arent doing a thing for me, i ask for that money to be credited to my now account, and they say no. its like i gave a donation to the hartford. after a month of my not paying, they cancelled me for non payment. i find this out after filing a claim for a nofault accident i had, involving an on ramp and the wall. first accident in 20 years. cancelled 10 days earlier.
is this really happening?

AAAHHH The Hartford Hartford insurance company where…
The Hartford insurance company where they openly and with shame practice "Bad Faith." Meaning, they unreasonably delay or denies your claim.
The Hartford Way.
Step 1- Hire overly aggressive agents to call their elderly clients with warning, stating they are launching and investigation against your claim. This is to intimated there elderly clients not to pursue their claim.
Step 2- Pay individuals meals and mileage to visit the area of the claimant. NOT to speak or check on their clients/customer but, to speak with surrounding people in the neighborhood. (who in my case caused the damages to my property.)
Step 3- Stop responding to anyone or anything involving the claim.
Step 4- Check your profile on The Hartford website, they will change your personal information, phone # etc.. in order to justify why they haven't contacted you.
The Hartford really should change there slogan to: We will take your money but, we will wait or make you drop dead before we pay out a claim. Thanks Hartford

SENIORS BEWARE.…
I can see I'm joining many others with issues with The Hartford. My experience was more of the same. I chose them as an AARP member because I thought it would help. I was wrong. I set up my Home and Auto bills on Autopay until I realized they charged me $8 monthly to put it on my card. I tried to change to a bank account withdrawal with a cheaper fee and although my home payment worked, the auto didn't. I was cancelled for nonpayment. I called, explained the situation to an agent, gave her my bank account number and thought I was set. Apparently, even though they had my account number for my home plan they couldn't duplicate it on the auto. They cancelled me again and refused to reinstate me. I found a cheaper plan with no charges attached to my payments, so I guess they did me a favor. Nevertheless I question why AARP endorses this company and they should reconsider, especially after the reviews I've seen here and other websites. Seniors Beware!!

Would NEVER recommend this agency!!
Would NEVER recommend this agency!!! They did not tell me my online application also needed to be submitted via hard copy. By the time I figured it out, they had my policy in cancellation. Good luck trying to get it out of cancellation. I sent the required paperwork via priority mail, yet ten days later after numerous phone calls they claimed not to have received it. On approximately the fourth call, again after telling me they had not received it, it magically appeared. Also worth mentioning is the fact that several phone calls I made between 7 and 8 am were met with recorded messages saying the office was closed despite their posted hours being as early as 7:00 a.m. In the end, it was resolved, but it never should have taken this much effort and time on my part.
