The Heartford I been told is a good company, however we did not see any benefits, it just looks like insruance SCAM companies just like all other insurance SCAM companies. We bought the most expensive insurance, and when you make a claim, they find whatever reason just to deny. I do not recommend this company ! Because their services are so bad, they turn off "Review" section, because they are stealing money from people and they know that people would be complaining. Probably , they will block me also.

Do the Math
Our family - from parents, to their children, and to their grandchildren uniformly purchased our car insurance from The Hartford for a multiple number of years. Our association with AARP lent a sense of affordable insurance that was also reliable and provided quality customer service. One by one of us were met head on with a failure to cover what was paid for and/or rising costs for the same or less coverage (My sister and her family were denied towing services when her camper broke down several hundred miles from their home. They proclaimed that my sister didn’t have that particular coverage. As a result she immediately cancelled her entire insurance policy, regardless of the numerous phone calls to her from various employees from The Hartford apologizing for their mistake and asking her to reinstate her policy. Their algorithm that establishes their policy costs makes little sense if you’re the same driver with the same driving record, but you currently live in a different city that is viewed, for whatever reason, to be a slightly greater risk for accidents, thefts, and/or vandalism. The Hartford has lost the trust and loyalty of an entire family who had fully insured all of their motor vehicles since the early 1950s, each of us owning and insuring two, or more, vehicles at a time. I was the last holdout until the fall of 2024 when The Hartford policy increased once again to an amount that was clearly unacceptable in view of what they would cover and the poor customer service I was receiving at the very time I was asking why my rate was rising so dramatically. My parents have nine great grandchildren, five who already are driving, but not insured with The Hartford, and four who will be driving within the next six years, but will not be insured with The Hartford. My message to The Hartford is, “Do the math."

I received an updated bill on my house…
I received an updated bill on my house insurance and decided to check other insurance rates. The Hartford was charging me over 1400.00 more annually for a cheaper insurance policy over their competitors. I then checked the auto insurance and again The Hartford was approximately 400.00 more than a competitors price. The Hartford in my opinion is taking advantage of the senior citizen when they should be assisting them. Yes I did cancel both policies with The Hartford and then they sent me a renewal policy. Not only did the hey send a renewal policy they also charged m bank account on the auto policy. Now I’m in the process of filing a dispute with my bank because of The Hartford incompetence. Is the same going to happen with my home policy??????

What a ripoff Hartford Insurance is don’t use them!
I would love to give The Hartford zero stars! My FIL recently passed and my husband and I as POA have taken over the bills for my 91 year old MIL. We came to find out their auto and homeowner insurance was outrageous! $5238 for homeowners alone and $1600 for a 27 year old car that’s driven less than 50 miles a year. The homeowners alone went up over $1,000 from last year alone. There has never been a claim or accident. My in-laws are over 40 year customers and who knows how many years they were being ripped off. They are not the type of people to question anything. When my husband called, the service representative was downright rude and could offer no answer as to why my in-laws replacement value of their home was assessed at nearly $950,000! The real assessment to replace is not even $450,000. What a joke. My husband hung up on the agent so frustrated. Needless to say we have gone to a new insurance company and the combined policies are now $2400. A $3400 difference, can you imagine even if they were overpaying that for just 5 years, that would be $17,000 they could have kept in their pocket. That’s just outrageous. This is a company for Senior Citizens?? I think not. It seems they bank on the fact that most will not fight them and will just pay, the way my in-laws did. Hartford is taking advantage of seniors and AARP should be ashamed of being a part of them. They’re supposed to be helping, not hurting people financially when every single dollar counts!! God only knows how many unnecessary THOUSANDS of dollars my in-laws have paid to this company over the years. It makes me sick. I would NEVER recommend Hartford Insurance to anyone!

Abysmal and disappointing
Abysmal. Our company uses Hartford for roadside assistance, and they are useless. Long hold times only to be told there is no record of our policy (twice) despite being fully paid customers. Their fault both times, which they admitted.
We also use them for workers comp insurance, and this is bad as well. It's difficult to track a case because representatives are changed out so often, and sometimes there are weeks of not proceeding with a case because they've lost track of it. Also, as their cases are winding down, our workers get letters from Hartford telling them that Hartford has overpaid them and they need to write a personal check to Hartford to balance out the account.
In conclusion: Terrible roadside assistance (we now use another service for that) and dysfunctional workers comp department, where paperwork is not forwarded to the next level, informed caseworkers are seemingly nonexistent, and in the end they 'overpay' you somehow and require a personal check to rectify the situation. This means trusting Hartford's math, when there are clerical or other errors on literally every case I have with them.
The customer service is just awful with this company. It doesn't even meet the bare minimum of what one expects even from the very lowest-cost insurance provider.

In a Nutshell- Hartford is TERRIBLE to do business with. TERRIBLE.
I am including AARP in my response because I do not think they will wish to be affiliated with Hartford, which I selected based on an AARP recommendation.
I notified Hartford immediately when you raised my rates substantially even though I have never filed a claim. I advised you that I switched to Progressive where I received a much better rate. On the advice of “Justin” at AARP Chat, I called Hartford. He has a number not provided to me by Hartford. I spoke with “Heather” who was unhelpful and rude. I had to ask her to please lower her voice and re-set the conversation to that of a customer service rep. She insists that the declarations page documents I sent to Harford are not adequate because they do not show the names of all licensed drivers ( I’m the only one) and states that Hartford does not have the ability to locate a policy that is one year old. I didn’t t think Hartford could get worse than their written correspondence, but I was wrong. She would not even let me speak to a supervisor upon my request.

Claim to be medical Professionals
If we could give a zero we would. My husband Shawn Segars is out with an ankle injury for 6 plus wk, the company decided that he should have had a follow up appointment before the actual appointment so they closed his claim. My question is since when did they become a medical doctor to say that he should have seen the doctor before his appointment? My question to them was the exact same thing how do you determine when patients should see the doctor again after they already have a follow up appointment? So long story short they decide when you should see the doctor not the doctor not the medical professional they say when they think that you should see the doctor how is this legal then they turn around and close the case because you’ve not seen the doctor when they want you to see one. You people are not medical professionals, medical professionals make a decision when you go back not your company.

Absolute worst customer service on the…
Absolute worst customer service on the planet. First off, it takes forever to speak to someone. Then once connected they put me on hold for 10 minutes and then hung up on me. Then I go back through the callback process all over again, the guy verifies that I have towing coverage then sends me a link to contact towing. When I finally get a call from them they want to charge me $400 to dispatch a driver. Since I have AAA I have them tow the car. Now I imagine it will be a complete nightmare going through the claims process. I will be cancelling this policy once the car is repaired and go back to Geico who provided excellent customer service in the past. I will be moving all my cars and house insurance away from Hartford, they are HORRIBLE!!
