Used to be good, not worth it now.
When the Athletic first started covering my teams, they recruited some of my favorite writers from the local newspaper. I followed them over to the Athletic and held a subscription with them for the past three years. I was very satisfied until this past year. It almost seems as if the writers are asked to push out more articles than they have information for. I love my local writers, but things are starting to seem watered down. I will still follow the writers on Twitter as I value their opinions and their takes/reads on different situations with the team, but to pay $60.00 a year for content that is not very deep with new insight or relies more heavily on speculation or "what if" scenarios is not something I'm interested in. Lastly, I have read a few articles lately that make me question whether the Athletic employs editors. Bad typos, reporting on "news" that is weeks old as if it just happened, or even stating that "this team MUST trade for a new forward" when that team already made a signing and publicly stated it was to fill the void mentioned. It is almost as if some of the writers are asked to write stories on topics they have no business speaking of. I paid for the Athletic because it gave more information than the different teams' PR personnel, but now I think I will stick to twitter accounts and PR emails rather than to pay for the same thing.
