I went to multiple agents to see every option I had. Taxquotes provided the worst solution for the highest price. Communication was mediocre, and you never speak with someone who actually handles your taxes unless you pay the outrageous asking price for the solution. If you want to over pay for out of touch tax agent, go ahead. Other services, you talk with the senior rep right away who will actually handle your case. They are always available and want to give you the best solution possible at the best rates. Taxquotes seemed to be the opposite.

Had Tax Quotes complete my filing for 3 years (2020-2022). Ultimately, I owed about 55k in taxes. I paid the IRS and thought all was well. Weeks later, I received a bill from the IRS stating I owed an additional 15k. I called Tax Quotes; they stated this was between myself and the IRS and I should call the IRS. Begrudgingly I paid the bill. Today 6/30/25, I received yet another bill from the IRS, 11k for year 2021 (which was revised by Tax Quotes). I can’t understand how a company can prepare my taxes, collect their fees from me, and then I continue to get bills from the IRS. I’ve never felt so screwed by a company or the IRS.

As your Case Manager mentioned, the balances you are receiving from the IRS include penalties and interest that have accrued due to late filing and late payment. While your tax amounts were calculated accurately, the returns were submitted after the original deadlines. Unfortunately, the IRS applies substantial penalties and interest for both late filing and late payment, which can sometimes exceed the actual tax owed. Regarding your 2021 return, based on your conversation with one of our tax preparers, you chose to spread out your $100,000 early retirement withdrawal over three years. This option required an amendment to your 2021 return, but it helped lower the tax owed across the years. Without this election, your balance for the other years would have been significantly higher. We understand that you made payments to the IRS before the returns were fully processed. While we appreciate your intention to resolve the balances quickly, we typically recommend waiting until the IRS processes the returns and issues an official notice. This ensures that all penalties and interest have been calculated and helps avoid receiving additional bills.
