A nightmare. I booked a 3 bedroom house in New Orleans weeks before our trip. The location was in a quiet, safe part of town that was .6 miles from Frenchman Street which is where we planned to spend a good part of our trip. 2 hours before check in time they called saying that our unit had an air conditioning issue and they had to move us to a different unit. They said they would send us a few to choose from. Before I even had a chance to look at the listings they booked us on Orleans Ave., in Treme. A noisy main street 1.8 miles from our original unit. All this while I'm finishing my work day and getting to the airport. So now our nice neighborhoody vacation turned into nonstop uber to and from the french quarter; no chance to do any cooking once we were out for the day; no naps at our pad. It sucked. There's more. Upon returning at midnight on the second night the keypad refused to work so we were locked out and Treme is not the safest part of town. We tried the window next to the front door and it opened. We climbed in and tried to lock the window. It was broken. We had slept in an unlocked apartment the night before without realizing. When we called Sonder they agreed to move us to the unit next to ours and gave us an hour to vacate. I demanded a refund and finally received after 2 weeks about a 20% refund with airbnb's help. It was like pulling teeth. Run people. Sonder is the pits. Even the airbnb reps will tell you that they have tons of problems with Sonder. Run Fast!!!

Booked a unit last minute through AirBnB. The secondary verification method was broken. It was a multi-hour ordeal to cancel and get full refund. I wouldn't be surprised if they get a descent amount of revenue just because their process is broken and it's very difficult to get a full refund even though it's their fault. Stay far far away from this company.

Sonder demands that you upload pictures of your I.D. No one else demands this They also demand that you upload a scan of of your face as you turn side to side. Impossible! My phone would not do this. They would not accept my booking if I could not do this. This is a blueprint for identity theft. I would advise anyone; do not book with these people. The potential for crime is HUGE!

My friend and I were on a vacation to San Diego, CA and planned to stay 3 days in downtown. Some background information: We are two younger females and did not realize the huge homeless population in the area. The front door to our room was an electronic keypad and was NOT LOCKING. We called Sonder and wasted an hour trying to troubleshoot their equipment, having to change our plans in the meantime. We couldn’t leave our stuff and we certainly didn’t feel safe when we couldn’t lock the door. We asked if they could send someone out to fix it but the lady continued trying to just make us figure it out ourselves for over an hour. Finally she gave me an access code for a nearby lockbox that had manual keys, but don’t ask me why she didn’t offer that after the first 15 minutes. We left, came back to the room and keys weren’t fully engaging the lock. It was late when we got back so we stayed the night and I messaged Sonder first thing in the morning telling them we did not feel safe, were going to find other accommodations, and I’m requesting a refund for at least the last two nights of our original booking. I have called Sonder customer service numerous times and messaged them every couple of days on the Airbnb app requesting a supervisor call back to discuss this with no luck. It has been 2 months and not a single supervisor could call me back or issue any refund even with them knowing they were putting their customers personal safety at risk. Their customer service is terrible.

We had booked the Sonder at 61 W. Erie in Chicago and were notified less than a week before our stay that there was an “emergency” and our stay was cancelled, with no alternative place to stay provided. They refunded our payment (that we had prepaid some time ago) and offered a $500 credit on another stay IF IT WAS BOOKED IN THE NEXT 7 BUSINESS DAYS. I had previously stayed at a Sonder in Montreal which was decent, with no issues other than neighborhood noise. I am really not comfortable relying on them for accommodations in the future. From the other reviews, this had happened to others as well. Be forewarned.

They cancelled our reservation 4 days before arrival! Woke up to an email that simply said they cancelled my reservation. No offer to rebook, nothing. There are 4 of us flying in from abroad and we now have no where to stay. We booked this reservation direct through sonder 3 months ago. We will be consulting a lawyer. Will NEVER book with this company again.

I wanted to reduce the duration of my stay by 2 days because of COVID reasons. Deceptive app told me I could ‘edit dates’ of my stay when instead it cancelled my stay, charged me a cancellation fee, and then booked my second stay at a higher rate. Will probably never stay here again.
