We were told 6 to 9 months wait to have a completed bathroom installed in our main floor. Our father was being released in a week from rehab. We started searching for “portable showers” to get us thru the months. Never did we think there was such a high class portable shower out there. We immediately called and Russell returned our call that day. Explained in detail and so kindly how it worked. (The water in and out) It was exactly what we needed/wanted. Well it’s been a few weeks and we are just going to keep using the Shower Bay instead of going through the demolition of a full bathroom! My father is 92 and absolutely loves sitting in his space with the hot water running over him. We are so grateful to Russell and this company for providing a reliable, elegant solution during a very difficult time.

I live in the state of Washington. I purchase my shower bay about 1-1/2 years ago. After extensive research, the shower bay was best to fit my needs to care for 2 elderly parents. Delivery was on time and assembly was super easy! I've had a few unexpected issues but Russell was always very prompt at helping resolve my issues! I have no regrets on this purchase!

We purchased this shower kit in September 2022 when we decided to rescue my father from the nursing home - initially by the end of September but it got bumped to mid-October. He is recovering from a severe stroke and is immobile on his right side, amongst other disabilities. Russell was SUPER helpful in guiding me through the details of setting it up (mainly providing a wide selection of fittings to help me get one that connected the shower hose to our laundry faucet) and, later trouble-shooting the loud drain pump. We turned my father's home office into the shower room as we had to situate his hospital bed in the family room of their split-level house. I chose to get clear vinyl floor mats to put down over the thin carpeting of the room and found a drop-arm shower wheelchair more suitable for my father's needs that fit in the Shower Bay unit. I'm 100 lbs and 5'3" tall and was able to unpack and assemble the shower kit completely on my own. I ran and secured the hoses, made the connections and tested the systems. It is not super easy to use the shower, but much easier than trying to get my father up several flights of stairs to his own shower! We have to warm the room with a space heater, then unplug that heater to accommodate the power draw of the pump. It would be a nicer experience for my father if the pump didn't sound so loud -- Russell's idea of putting a thick towel over the pump was helpful, but it's still unpleasantly noisy when we go to use it. His second suggestion was to start the shower and 3-4 minutes into it, only then turn on and run the pump to at least give ourselves a few minutes extra of quiet! We find that one of us has to go into the shower unit to really wash my father as he has trouble directing even his good left hand to do much. An aide standing outside the shower unit holds and directs the shower spray while I or my main live-in caregiver does the washing. Our Shower Bay inadvertently wound up with a second use: as a bathroom stall! For a while, my father decided that he wanted more privacy while doing his business on the commode. By having him use the shower wheelchair (which can double as a commode), we could wheel him into the Shower Bay unit and close the doors to give him privacy! While he seems to have outgrown this need now as his brain continues to heal, I found this to be another plus to our Shower Bay purchase. The unit is not as sturdy as I imagined it would be, but I can appreciate that it's as sturdy as it needs to be (keeping in mind that people like my father grab into nearby walls or objects to try to move (push) along in the wheelchair). So it's okay as long as my dad doesn't grab onto the doors on his way out! The space we're in is small (11' x 11' room), so we usually keep the ramp lifted up and off to the side so that the room can be used as a bathroom, leaving room for the wheelchair and the shower wheelchair/commode to be situated in front of the Shower bay unit. We can then do transfers from wheelchair to commode, etc. Overall we're very pleased with this purchase because the lack of a downstairs shower was a major obstacle to our bringing my father home. This was a much more affordable solution than to retrofit the house to put in a new handicap-accessible/usable bathroom. And if/when we're done, it can be disassembled and the room returned to other uses. Now we have my father home and he's really improving -- and that makes it worth every penny!

When we thought the only option was an expensive home renovation I stumbled upon shower bay and couldn’t be more grateful. After a heartbreaking diagnosis and many frustrations the shower bay was the first victory in what has been a long journey with my father. Thanks to Russell and his team for the communication and making the purchasing experience positive, and creating a desperately needed solution to so many.

A HAPPIER NEW YEAR. All my experiences with Showerbay from ordering, delivery, assembly and showering have been great. After months of sponge baths my husband is delighted and amazed with his Christmas gift this year.
