Incompetent and mean
My mother died leaving me her portfolio managed by Schwab while I lived in China. This portfolio is in the high six digits and since I was overseas, other relatives had ample opportunity to commit all kinds of fraud on her accounts and changed the account address to theirs. They received and cashed dividend checks for tens of thousands of dollars and when I found out I contacted Schwab. One would think fraud on an account this size would be taken seriously and that they would be sure to change all the information or at least lock the account. The checks continued to go to the relatives and Schwab put me through a labyrinth of useless paperwork and bureaucratic nonsense even after my attorney contacted them. After all the paperwork and zero help, they decided that they would do nothing about the checks that were cashed and this decision was final. I moved the account to Wells Fargo, who actually pay attention to my account. The man in charge of the account (who I previously never heard from) decided to call me at an unreasonable hour in my time zone and proceeded to yell at me, bringing me to tears because this whole experience was very traumatic. He was genuinely clueless and upset that I moved the account when he did less than nothing to service that account. Hope he got fired. They still send me mail now asking me to open an account.
