What a superb company to do business with. My father passed on in Dec and there was money in his Charles Schwab account for me to claim. Unlike many of his other accounts this firm made the transition as easy as could be. I simply had to mail in the death certificate, answer a few questions over the phone and that was that. His account was closed, all the monies transferred to my name and that was that. 6 of his other accounts are stressing me out running here and there looking for Medallion Signature gurantees and filling out tons of paperwork. Charles Schwab made an already overwhelmed and stressed out woman rest easier and as such I am maintaining my account with them, and shutting down all the rest.

If only I could close my account...
They charged unlawful fees. Their web site is a mess, with broken links and unavailable functionalities. They don't answer messages sent through the Message Centre, there is no contact email address or chat, and on the phone (when you can reach a UK phone number), their customer service agents are the most unknowledgeable and condescending. They don't deserve your trust.

appalling disgusting inept company
what can i say, these guys are horrible. this company bought out TDAMERITRADE sadly. now td will be going downhill slowly but surely with them. as they already have since these fools got onboard. i wanted to stay with td as they were always good to me in hopes it might rub off on swab. but no this negative sham of a company brought td down with them. i had nothing but trouble with these swab people. they are disgusting. cheap inept childish unwilling to listen to the customers. i guess they dont read much, since they dont seem to care they have 1-2 stars rating. i guess anybody can start a business with no knowledge or experience. they caused me so much grief with my accounts and then they blamed me. all i can say is fools low level nasty company. they all sound half dead over there with their rude nasty behavior, they make mistakes and then leave the customer with the unresolved problems. they are careless. i was tired of getting yelled at and i filed a complaint as this is my retirement money and its important. i dont need crappy people and service nor does any customer deserve this mess. they apparently dont have any quality training and they dont care who they hire. when i complained about the lack of care from these people they retaliated and sent me some childish NASTY RUDE letter telling me we will close your accounts. who cares i was going anyway and making plans to leave long beforehand. you are disgusting cheap and unworthy of being in business td/swab! another low level mismanaged unorganized company. who does not listen to its customers and wont make it better. thats why you have only 1 star and thats being generous.

Worst customer service of any brokerage…
Worst customer service of any brokerage I have ever used by far.
Initially I tried to transfer funds from an external savings account and the incoming transfer was rejected by Schwab. My existing bank was able to email me receipts from the attempted transfer showing that it was sent and that Schwab rejected it. Called customer service, they said they couldn't see any evidence of an attempted transfer, told me it must be an issue with my external bank, and tried to get me off the phone as quickly as possible. The Schwab rep then kept asking if he had resolved my issue, I told him "no" repeatedly, and he finally said out loud, "I don't know what else you want me to do".
Next I tried to transfer an entire external brokerage account (cash and positions). Was given a date for completion, received an email on that date saying that the transfer was complete, logged in, and saw that only about 70% of the assets had been transferred. Some positions partially transferred, a random $10.42 was left in the external money market account, etc. Again, called their 24/7 customer service immediately. Rep left me on hold, came back and said that the transfers department told him that they were "still working on it" and gave me a new date for completion a week in the future, after I had already received confirmation via email that the entire process was complete. In my online account, it was also showing that the entire transfer had been completed. I took screenshots. Again, the rep on the phone could not have been any less interested, could not explain why this had happened, and ended the call by asking me if I "still wanted him to check back with the transfers department for more of an explanation."
I had actually heard good things about Schwab and their customer service and wanted to like this company. Unfortunately, these types of errors, ignorance, and lack of transparency are unacceptable when it comes to managing large sums of money. I'm now planning to transfer everything back to another brokerage, and I have zero confidence in that process going smoothly.
What a waste of time and energy.

Schwab RMD nightmare
Extremely unhappy with trying to submit RMD on 12/31/22. There are zero warnings that you had to do this by 12/30/22 no reminders - nothing. Hit up their support chat basically got the apology and link for information on filing IRS form 5329 so I can appeal the heavy tax for not taking the distribution . I wasn’t trying to distribute any positions just cash. I saw their ad about their agent helped a customer on Christmas eve apparently nobody helped New years eve and automatically pushed the RMD out to 1/3/23. When it comes to saving you money from taxes and having your best interest in mind Schwab sets you up for failure. Looking for another financial institution that I can trust and rely on.

Customer Service Failure
I have an account with Charles Schwab and visited their office the night before to deposit money with them as instructed. I call about my account and the young woman tells me I have to speak with the "fixed income department". I was at their office so the fixed income department is really the fixed income guy. Nevertheless, I was told the wait time was 10 minutes and 45 minutes later I had to hang up just out of frustration. Could have been an honest mistake but the office is small enough to let anyone know a customer is on hold. The flashing light on the phone system is also a good indicator there is someone on hold. May have made a mistake going with these guys for investments. One last interesting fact: could not write a review on any of the sites that rave about Charles Schwab as being a 5 star company. Funny how that works.

Their android app sucks
Their android app sucks! I logged into the app on my phone for the first time today. Well, I had to get a code to complete it. I can't receive text messages right now, and my only option was to call Schwab. Which I did, on Skype. At the number on the app, I was forced to answer whether I was over 50 or not. When I said "yes" someone answered "Emergency Health Hotline." I said that's not what I'm calling about. She hung up on me. Then calling another number, and after answering tons of "ID" questions, someone finally answered. Then after more questions, the guy said "I'll give it to you and enter it on your phone now." I replied that I was calling via Skype on my phone and I had to exit in order to log into the Schwab on my phone. So he gave me the code. But then when I logged into the app still again, I got the same "you need a code" with my only available option was to call Schwab. I uninstalled the app and reinstalled it. Same results. So I tried calling again. After (again) answering lots of questions, no agent was available. After 10 minutes on hold, I hung up.
I need to send money to a friend, and apparently Zelle is my only option with Schwab--and I have to use the phone app to do it! Grrrrrrrr!
