Ireally like that the sitters go through background checks, which gives me added peace of mind. I also appreciate being able to read reviews from previous clients before choosing a sitter. Knowing that the sitters are insured in case of an accident is another big plus. These features make the service feel trustworthy and reliable. My dog sitter was great. She kept in contact with me and sent daily photos of my dog. She followed all my instructions. My dog was healthy and happy when I came back from a two week vacation. I will definitely use Rover again.

It was fast and convenient, several selections to choose from and the one I pick Gina, was a dynamite dog sitter!

They closed my account without the option to appeal. I still have several client's keys, now with no way to contact them. I can't log into my closed account, not even to delete personal details. I've been with Rover since the VERY early days. I gave regular feedback with UX improvement suggestions when their site was much younger. Feedback consistently ignored, but if applied it would have yielded a MUCH improved user experience from the sitter AND pet owner perspective AND would have lead to more bookings. The lack of those UX improvement lead to me regularly having to back-and-forth with not the right client, leading to having to turn clients down. Wasting both the client's time and mine and making rover less appealing to use for both. I have dedicated a LOT of energy to onboard clients and giving them the best possible experience. I could write an essay. But loyalty was not valued, neither was constructive feedback (which ultimately would have been revenue increasing for both platform and us as sitters). The decision to close my account was taken by an AI not a person. The platform sees an increase in potential clients trying to transact OFF site. While the platform probably assumed I was the one trying to take clients off site. I still have so many UX improvements to suggest to Rover but the effort is obviously as useful as shouting into the wind. The implementation of AI has made the platform worse. 20% is a lot of money to pay in fees, I was originally grandfathered in at 15%. For a platform with too many missing UX points. So.. Rover.. what do I do with all those keys now? Since you forbid exchanging numbers, how do I call the clients to return the keys? This is a bit of a security issue. I have LOVED Rover and recommended it EVERYWHERE and defended it, in my own time, on forums and FB posts when people spoke ill of the company. Loyalty = unrewarded. I was angry at first. Now I am just disappointed. The alternative pet-sitting platform is of no interest to me. It was always Rover or nothing. Now it's nothing.

The website is horrible. It let me create an account but when I tried to enter my phone number, it said the phone was already tied to an account. I had to use support. It only supported chat. The chat box would go almost entirely off screen so I could not see it. It could not be moved around on screen using drag and drop. The only way to get the chat back was to turn the phone sideways and then back upright. But the chat would go off screen again. It took several minutes for agent to answer, but they disappeared after saying hello. I had to ask if they were still there. It's been six minutes since they said they would look into it. I asked for a phone number to call instead but that was ignored. I'd go elsewhere except I found a pet sitter on their site who I want to use, so I'll put up with this for a little longer.

It is convenient for pet owners. However, it is very expensive when you include the Rover service fees. Also, for what we are paying for, I would expect a much better app and website experience. Several times I have tried to use the chat feature for customer service and it just doesn't work. Could be so much better. And, the referral bonus didn't work for me or my friend, even though we followed their directions for how to receive it exactly.
