Sarah was a super sitter for our Chihuahua Willow. We had never left her with anyone except family and Willow was happy when we got home. We were gone for three weeks and felt confident leaving Willow with Sarah. I highly recommend Sarah for your pets.

I do think you can find good sitters here. I like that you can upload information about your pets. I like that you get the rover card after a visit. However, I do think the fee that rover charges is too high - especially because it sounds like they charge both the client and the sitter a fee. I also don't like that you can't just search for local sitters without putting in a specific date. It makes it hard to just find people first (before you actually need them). I also don't like that everything is through the "conversation" rather than a calendar format. I like the conversation piece; I just wish there was a calendar that showed your bookings. I also think that clients should be able to request meet and greets (as in initiate them) and not the other way around (asking sitters to send a meet and greet). Lastly, if you're doing repeated bookings, I think that rover should help you find the backup person and let that sitter know that they would be your backup, as opposed to leaving it to the client. I've tried to find a backup person, but no one wants to be that. They all want to be the repeated booking, so it makes it very difficult - and that's hard because people DO get sick and you have to have a backup. That's the only thing I worry about with using this service. If Rover had something in place to help you do that, I think it would vastly improve the service.

I needed a safe place for my dog to stay while I was at a doctor's appointment out of town. I initially thought about a doggy day care but as I reviewed their policies and read about the risks of being exposed to viruses their vaccines may not cover, I decided against this option. I did a search for dog sitters and Rover came up. The person I chose on the Rover app had great reviews, a great price (comparable to the drop in day care), and she was conveniently located 10 minutes away from the clinic where I had my appointment. My dog was taken care of for 3 hours in a home where she was the only dog and was taken out for 2 walks. I will definitely use Rover again whenever we are traveling. Especially since I could avoid an expensive overnight hotel pet fee using Rover too, but still have my pet with me during the day.
