Stay away from this company. This is the worst company I have ever worked with. We had just moved into a newly built home and hired Roto rooter to install a simple countertop water dispenser that was supposed to be hooked up behind the fridge. The plumber negligently removed a piece that was closing off the water pipe (as he openly stated out loud “I’ve never seen this tab before”), proceeded to pull the tab out, causing the water to burst and flood our kitchen and dining room. He didn’t even attempt to turn off the water beforehand or check where the water shut off was before proceeding. They claimed that it was non-negligent because it wasn’t intentional. Such a disgusting move by this company. They brought in flood specialists as “courtesy” (even though it was 100% their fault) but then proceeded to rip out the baseboards to let the drywall dry up. Then they had the audacity to say that it was our responsibility and out of our pockets to reinstall the baseboard. This is a completely fraudulent company. Another example of large companies not wanting to take accountability of something that is completely their fault. I would 100% NOT recommend this company to anyone I know, and to everyone else I do not know.

Needed my toilet snaked from a clog. They came out quick and affordable. No gimmicks or extra charges. Will keep them on speed dial as I was pleasantly happy with the service.

I am extremely disappointed with the pricing for my recent garbage disposal replacement. I was charged $950 for a job that took the technician only 50 minutes to complete. While the technician was professional, the labor rate works out to be astronomical. I feel completely overcharged for a standard, less-than-one-hour repair. I would recommend getting a firm quote elsewhere before booking. Update: Sent this email: Hello, I am writing to formally dispute the charges on my account for a service performed today, January 11, 2026, by your Indianapolis/Westfield branch. The service involved the replacement of a garbage disposal. The technician was professional, but I am extremely concerned by the total bill of $1,000.00 for a job that took approximately 50 minutes to complete. Even with the cost of a high-end disposal unit, this total appears to be significantly outside the standard market rate for the Indianapolis area. According to current 2026 industry data, a standard garbage disposal replacement—including both the unit and professional labor—typically ranges between $300 and $550. A $1,000 charge for less than an hour of labor suggests a labor rate or markup that is difficult to justify. I am requesting a formal, itemized breakdown of this $1,000 charge, specifically clarifying: The specific model and retail value of the disposal unit that was installed. The exact labor fee or "flat rate" code applied to this 50-minute repair. An explanation of how this total aligns with Roto-Rooter’s regional pricing for routine appliance swaps. I would appreciate a response regarding these charges and a review of this invoice to ensure it reflects a fair and reasonable price for the time and materials provided. Manager Response: A manager contacted me via phone the next day. The manager was dismissive, stating I should have "done my research" beforehand. This ignores the fact that I didn't know the unit required a full replacement until the technician diagnosed it on-site. I was essentially penalized for trusting their professional assessment in the moment. The manager refused to provide specific numbers for parts or labor, offered zero transparency, and made no effort to resolve the dispute.

STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY. Had issues with our sewer line backing up for a while and had them put a few times to snake and clear the line. Was told multiple times it needed to be replaced because jetting wasn’t an option. Fast forward to the most recent time we had them out to snake and this guy tells me it needs to be jetted actually. I tell him what I was told before and he assures me that I can in fact be jetted. I said I want to hold off so I make sure I have the extra $700 the jetting will cost. He comes back out a week later WHILE IM AT WORK and does it anyway. I am just sent an invoice. I did not approve of that work at all and then had a horrible experience trying to speak with anyone regarding the issue, none of them communicating to each other, and them threatening collections of I didn’t pay.

This was one of the worst customer service experiences I’ve ever had. Roto-Rooter is disorganized, unresponsive, and aggressive once they want payment. They do not return calls — ever. After leaving fans at my home that appeared to be overheating, no one followed up, no one checked in, and no one called back, despite multiple attempts. I had to deal with the situation on my own, which felt unsafe and irresponsible on their part. They also just show up without coordination and expect you to be home, rather than communicating like a professional service company. Billing was another nightmare. I was overbilled twice, and it was only corrected because I caught the mistakes myself. Had I not checked carefully, I would have been charged incorrectly with no accountability. Once billing became an issue, the tone completely changed. Collections and field managers were rude, nasty, and unprofessional. If you don’t pay exactly when they want — regardless of billing errors — they become disgustingly disrespectful and are quick to threaten or send accounts to collections. They clearly do not care about customer feedback, reviews, or BBB complaints — and it shows. I strongly encourage anyone considering Roto-Rooter to check the BBB and online reviews first, because my experience lines up exactly with the many negative reports already out there. Save yourself the stress and look elsewhere

DO NOT BELIEVE THEM WHEN THEY QUOTE YOU AN ARRIVAL TIME AND YOU'RE HAVING AN EMERGENCY! I called around 12:50 because my house was flooding from running a load of laundry and discovering the main sewer line was blocked. Gross water was coming out of the toilets, shower, and bathtub and flooding my home. Roto-Rooter promised someone would be to me within an hour and that the man was in my area so he could get here quickly. An hour-and-a-half later, they called and said he was on his way and would be to my home in a few minutes. 40 minutes go by and still no one. I called them again, and they said he is still at least 20 minutes away. It's pretty clear at this point that they said what was necessary to lock me into using them in my emergency situation and had no intention of actually honoring that time. I called them and asked them to send someone else since this man was clearly over an hour away from me when they said he was "nearby." If they'd been honest, I would have kept calling other companies to get someone over to my flooding home ASAP. If you're having an emergency do not trust these people to show up and keep calling the other companies! They are still not here and my home has been flooded for the last two hours and counting....

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! They came out Sunday evening because we had a plumbing problem. The first guy couldn't unplug it so he called in the "manager" with the camera. Within 2 min we are told our main pipe has collapsed and will cost us $8000. Basically sale pitched to get us to sign the contract and we gave a post dated check for that Friday. Then Monday morning we decided to get a second opinion from 3 other plumbing companies at which no other cameras showed that our pipe has collapsed. All we had to do is the jetter and the line was cleared for $800!!!! If we just stayed with roto we would be out $8000 and our front yard dug up 7 ft under! No apology no nothing from roto! Stay away!!!!

This is a 5-star review only because James and Daniel came and saved the day. After we were informed the first plumber was on his way, an hour and 15 minutes passed and he hadn’t shown up. I called to check on him. We received another call that he would arrive in about 30 minutes. He didn’t show, but he eventually called to say there was an accident that would delay him. Totally understandable until he arrived impaired. Our plumbing problem was far worse than anticIpated by Roto-Rooter so James and Daniel were called in to run a camera through our pipes. The encounter immediately shifted from a double mess (plumbing problem and impaired plumber) to one of professionalism and total relief because it was immediately apparent our problem would be resolved at a fair price and the work would be high quality. Initially, we were told that Brenton would be working with James to replace our damaged pipe. This would have been a deal-breaker, but management worked with us and let James and Daniel do the work. We appreciate their flexibility and concern for our comfort. James and Daniel are knowledgeable, honest, efficient, clean and neat. Thank you both SO much!
