Went with a friend to Room and Board. Despite the fact that she had to return a dining table two times I bought a console. I had to return the console. One of the drawers was difficult to open. What's the problem with this place?

Nope no nada uh uh What I ordered was colorful and interesting. What was delivered was dull dull dull. Years ago, I bought a bunch of stuff from them and it was great. This is my second recent order and will be my last. Just don't. Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend

First and foremost, I think the furniture is excellent and a step above anything I’ve owned before. The deliverers they work with are also great. While there was a slight mixup with my order, their customer service team course corrected after I reached out. I’d happily recommend Room & Board to others, and will look to them for my future furniture needs.

Great furniture, but this customer-service policy made me reconsider buying from Room & Board. I recently visited the Room & Board outlet and found several pieces I wanted. Because I live downtown Chicago and couldn't immediately make another trip to the outlet, I called to ask whether the items were still there. I wasn't asking them to hold anything. I wasn't asking for a reservation or a guarantee. I simply wanted to know if the merchandise was still physically in the store so I could decide whether it was worth making the trip again. They refused to provide that information because inventory changes quickly and, according to the employee, allowing those inquiries could create a “domino effect.” I even went to another Room & Board location near me and asked if they could call the outlet to check. Again, no, repeatedly. I completely understand not holding outlet merchandise. I don't understand refusing to provide basic information about whether something is still available. Room & Board promotes itself around exceptional service and a worry-free shopping experience. That was not my experience. Ironically, I was already prepared to buy. Instead, I started looking online and found comparable furniture elsewhere, including options with easier purchasing and more flexible return policies for the specific pieces I found. Maybe this policy makes sense from Room & Board's operational perspective. But from a customer's perspective, it creates unnecessary friction and makes it very easy to take your money somewhere else.

Update: I wrote the CEO and he and the head of customer service responded. They are standing behind their products. I’ve bought from Room and Board for decades. We have a couch that has held up great and bookshelves I’ve had and loved for a long time. A year ago we bought two chairs and an ottoman. They are horribly uncomfortable. The fabric is worn and looks like we have had them for years. We sent photos to customer service and they immediately discounted our concerns. We have a lot of life stuff to contend with and hoped for 2 comfortable chairs in our apartment. We put down a lot of money for these custom chairs. We will probably have to give away and can’t afford more. Something has certainly changed with Room and Board. I do not recommend this store to anyone.

I purchased a Marcel sofa with chaise, and the back cushions have leaked feathers constantly. Feathers regularly poke through, making the sofa uncomfortable and leaving a mess. I contacted Room & Board with photos, but was told this was normal and that foam replacements would cost another $500. Very disappointing quality and customer service for a sofa at this price.

I purchased a Room & Board dining table. After normal household use, the tabletop developed visible moisture rings and finish marks. Room & Board said it was not a defect and recommended using a dry iron with a paper bag or cloth, or hiring a furniture repair specialist. I am not comfortable applying heat without a professional inspection, and they did not offer repair coverage or accommodation. I am disappointed with the finish durability and customer support for a premium dining table.

Worst couch I've ever had the displeasure of owning If I could rate it negative stars I would. Feels like we overpaid for an Amazon quality couch instead of a renowned furniture brand. The feathers? Constant. Everywhere. All the time. Do you enjoy vacuuming your couch and adjusting all the cushions daily? Great! This might actually be for you. According to their customer support, that's the expectation for this couch. No matter how many feathers explode everywhere, how wrinkly the fabric looks, or how much shape the sofa loses it will be YOUR FAULT for not caring for it enough! I was doing the maintence daily but silly me, I should have been doing it hourly!! But that's okay! Once you're done picking the feathers out of your ass, you can finally attempt to relax on the lumpy, sunken in structure that was once your sofa!!! In all seriousness, please do not waste your money on this. After my experience with their snarky customer support and seeing the "quality" of this sofa degrade so severely in under a year, I'd never waste my time or money on this company again.
