The install required some tech support to show up. He was timely knowledgeable and his work was what I needed. They have since swapped out all the modem hardware which was ready enough for me to get it going myself.

TLDR- take the leap! Fast and dependable service
Purchased my little getaway/future retirement home on the Outer Banks in 2012 and signed up with the lesser of two evils, Charter/ Spectrum. Prior to moving here full time 4 years ago (doing remote work), I relied on cameras (and neighbors) to keep an eye on things while away (storms, winter). For weeks at a time when not there, I’d have no access, due to needing to unplug/reset my Spectrum modem/router, even bought my own, and it still continued. When the app became available, would often show as modem not found so no ability to reset remotely. In 2022, with the requirement of dependable and faster internet for work, I upgraded to a new modem/router speed package. After a year still with recurring resets and slower than promised speeds, they said was probably the salt air corrosion and replaced the cable from the street to the box on my house (which was left unburied for over a year, until after they came to install new coax to the modem). Even with the recurring issues, my bill continued increasing, and required calls to get promotional pricing. After fiber was installed here, I waited awhile and checked comments and reviews before switching to Ripple last summer. I cut my bill almost in half, my up/down speeds are way more than work requires and I’ve had just one outage lasting less than a couple hours. Definitely very satisfied with their service!

Getting Ripple has been a terrible…
Getting Ripple has been a terrible experience from setting up the appointment to installation & on to dealing with customer service when the service stopped working two days after installation. I had it installed on a Friday, the tech wanted to run the line all the way around the back of my house and drag it into the crawl space instead of just punching the line into the left side where Spectrum came in. I caught it after he had ran the line and mounted the box to the side of my house. To his credit her understood that it made no sense to do that and fixed it but come on. Next everything was working great until Monday morning. I called customer service & spent an hour on the phone with them while they attempted to figure out the issue. After reconfiguring my modem/router several times the service came back up but didn’t work correctly. I was experiencing a lot of jitter and dropped packets which you wouldn’t expect from Fiber. I was given a Ticket reference number and told that Tier 2 support would be reaching out to me. No one called but I did get a couple of emails to which I responded. The next day a Ripple rep stopped by while I was again on the phone with customer service asking for an update. Sadly he was just there to verify the installation went correctly. I explained to him what was going on and he made a phone call, looked up my ticket number then said he added some notes and I should expect a technician to be contacting me and on the way out to fix the issue. No one called. Now we are on day 3 of me calling customer service (it’s Wednesday, again it was installed the previous Friday). While speaking with tech support the lady asked me if I had changed the network name and password (I have) she tried to tell me that was what was causing my issue, that it needed to stay the same. This is unequivocally false and they need to train their support personnel better. She went on to tell me that my original ticket was closed, marked as fixed. So here I sit on hold waiting on her to allegedly schedule a technician to come out for real this time and fix an issue that I shouldn’t even have. (They just hung up on me when transferring me to get scheduled) I was looking forward to switching to Ripple from Spectrum as I expected Fiber to be more reliable than coax but as of now I see that I was wrong. I would avoid this service at all costs until they get it worked out.

Ripple will straight up lie to you
We tried to get Ripple (then it was HyperFiber) a couple years only to be told the complex we live in wasn’t authorized to install so we had to pass, but to our excitement a technician/sales person showed up at our door last week telling us they had been authorized to install internet and had already installed in a few units where we live. We set up an install date only for no one to show up and when I called to find out why I was told that they were not able to install in complexes and that the sales person only told us that to get us to sign and make himself look good to his boss, mind you their Customer Service were the ones to tell us that. 0/10 would recommend.

Not Worth It
The internet is very fast but not reliable.
There were huge issues with installation. I had to wait three months to get it installed after they had already dug up my whole street.
Now, I’ve had the service for 6 months and have had multiple outages for multiple days. It’s so frustrating. I thought Charter/Spectrum was bad, but Ripple is just as bad. It is admittedly much faster, but the lengthy outages make no sense.
