I am thankful to the RealSelf community as it allows me to connect with patients, their experiences, explore other surgeons and procedures.

Thanks to RealSelf I was able to make an informed choice in selecting a doctor and procedure that was best suited for me. I was able to research my options and get all questions answered in a minute detail. Patient reviews were instrumental in my decision for facelift. I love RealSelf because all information there is unbiased, candid ... and real. All I can say is Great Job and Thank You RealSelf!

Recently, I joined Realself in order to not only ask questions, but in order to research options that I may have regarding non surgical alternatives. I asked a question and received feedback from 12 physicians, thus far. Three of those physicians stood out, and none of them are in my location. However, those within a driveable range, were those who neglected to answer my specific question, and they also stated that I didn't specify my health issues. I purposefully did not specify my health issues, because this is a public forum, and much like HIPAA, some things should remain private, and not be required in order for a question to be answered. Based upon the feedback I received, I would travel out of my area for quality care, rather than to have a consult with any of the physicians that are closer. It's not about vanity for me, it's about confidence and recreating myself after many years of abuse, as well as health issues that left me bedridden for extended periods of time. I flew out of my area, in order to have mercury amalgam fillings removed safely from my teeth, and that is what has given me a new beginning. Distance isn't an issue when it comes to quality of life and health. I feel that some people/patients have better luck in certain areas of the earth, where others may have less optimal results. That can be looked at astrologically by some groups and individuals, or culturally by others. I am impressed with physicians that do not seem condescending, but are more geared toward patient education and empowerment. Liz Hernandez

Excellent way for people to share their experiences and also a great way to find a doctor with good credibility.

I've worked for quite a few plastic surgeons for many years and have looked around on this website for comments and information on various plastic and cosmetic surgery procedures. Fundamentally; there is nothing wrong with the website. I have met with many people that have gone directly to surgeons in different countries for procedures. They have spent a lot of money on the wrong procedures or even worse had botch jobs. I have found that consulting with an experienced plastic surgery advisor to be far more useful than going directly to surgeons or reading reviews from patients who had had maybe one or two procedures.

I love Real Self! You find many reviews on procedures and doctors. People respond to your comments and best of all, doctors respond to questions you post. I definitely recommend!

As a cosmetic doctor I have been absolutely horrified by the poor customer service and true scam this website really is. We have been members for 2 years now and simply putting about 1k a month in the bin. Our customer representative is only interested in sales pitching spotlights that are a complete con in themselves. We at one point we’re spending 1.5k per month in spotlights and having about 2 enquiries a month. We received no useful advice in how to improve our conversions or service page. I could not emphasise enough that if you a doctor thinking of joining this site DO NOT. It’s a complete waste of money.
