It’s free for a doctor to open a profile on RealSelf, post content, collect reviews, and update their business information. Doctors are not required to purchase ads, although many choose to do so as a way to market their practice. When a doctor does purchase ads, they always receive a contract, including Terms & Conditions, which they’re required to sign before their service begins. We encourage all doctors to ask questions about the contract before signing. We want everyone to get the most out of their time on RealSelf. RealSelf is an unbiased platform for consumers to share their honest opinions. Doctors can’t remove reviews under any circumstances. As a 100% free resource for consumers, we do show ads on the site. However, ads are displayed independently from consumer content, and they’re always marked as “Sponsored.” Advertisers can’t alter or remove content (including reviews) or influence how that content is displayed.

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. Everyone on RealSelf has the same space to share their opinions, regardless of whether those opinions are positive or negative. We only remove reviews if they violate our Terms of Service (e.g. bullying, threats, duplicates, spam, etc). Doctors cannot pay to remove or hide reviews. As a free resource, we do display ads on the site. These are clearly marked as “Sponsored” or “Advertisement,” and doctors can only advertise in their core specialty. This means you will only see ads from a doctor who is board certified to perform a particular procedure. (For example, an ophthalmologist could not advertise liposuction or a tummy tuck.)

Our service is 100% free for consumers, and it’s supported by ads. If a doctor chooses to purchase ads, they are clearly labelled as “Sponsored” or “Advertisement.” However, doctors are entitled to a free profile on RealSelf. They are not required to purchase ads or any additional services to use RealSelf.
