Good eve. You don’t know me, but my name is Chad Valley. I owned a company and used Mitch Rotker/owner of Capital Online Auctions LLC to sell my business last year and he screwed me, sold all my equipment and didn’t pay me. He has now partnered with Rasmus auctions and If you look him up on the Maryland court website of Capital Online Auctions LLC, you will see multiple lawsuits but you will also see one lawsuit from the state of Maryland for over $34,000 in unpaid unemployment taxes to the state which has put his business in a standing of not good and then a new lawsuit by the state of Maryland was filed in June 2026 for unpaid income tax of over $276,000 dollars and liens have been placed on Mitch Rotker. I want you to know the kind of person this man is and at this moment he owes me over $30,000 for business transactions between his company and mine that he failed to honor.

Chad, this is now the third review you have posted on the Rasmus Auctions Trustpilot profile regarding the same dispute with Mitch Rotker and Capital Online Auctions LLC. As we have previously stated, your allegations concern business transactions between you and Capital Online Auctions LLC, not a transaction or service provided to you by Rasmus Auctions. We understand that you have an ongoing dispute, but repeatedly posting the same allegations against Rasmus Auctions does not change the fact that your complaint is directed at a separate business. Rasmus Auctions takes legitimate customer feedback seriously. However, our review profile should reflect actual experiences with our company, not be used to repeatedly publicize allegations involving another business.

Extremely Disappointing Experience — Paid Over $14,000 and Could Not Access My Purchases My experience with Rasmus Auctions has been one of the most frustrating and damaging business experiences I have ever had. I paid more than $14,000 for auction merchandise, yet I was repeatedly denied a practical way to pick up items I had already purchased and paid for. My account was disabled by management, which prevented me from logging in to access essential pickup information, including the pickup address for items scheduled for collection. I spent an entire weekend and business day trying to get help through calls, voicemails, text messages, and messages to multiple employees. I received little to no response. When I finally reached out to sales for help, I was told that the CEO had instructed that all communication must go through the company’s attorney. However, no one would provide the attorney’s name or contact information, and my direct questions about whether I would be allowed to retrieve my paid merchandise were ignored. This was not a minor customer-service inconvenience. For a business owner, being unable to access inventory that has been fully paid for can create real financial losses, missed jobs, scheduling problems, and damage to customer relationships. The lack of communication, lack of accountability, and apparent unwillingness to provide a straightforward solution were unacceptable. I expected basic professionalism: clear pickup instructions, a working account, a response to urgent messages, and access to merchandise I had paid for. Instead, I was left without answers while a substantial amount of my money remained tied up. Based on my experience, I would strongly caution any buyer, especially contractors, resellers, and business owners who depend on timely access to purchased inventory, to carefully document every payment and communication, confirm pickup procedures in writing, and think carefully before trusting Rasmus Auctions with a time-sensitive purchase. It's been over a month and a half now and I still await gerting my money back and a response from the management.

Thank you for sharing your perspective. Because this review leaves out important circumstances surrounding these transactions, we believe some clarification is necessary. This matter did not arise simply because your account was disabled after you purchased merchandise. You purchased a substantial amount of material and arrived for removal without the resources necessary to complete the pickup within the required removal period. During the resulting dispute, interactions with our on-site team became confrontational and inappropriate. Following the suspension of your account, additional accounts were created and used to participate in subsequent Rasmus auctions. Purchases made through those accounts were also not completed or removed as required. At that point, this was no longer a routine customer-service or pickup matter. Rasmus made multiple efforts to address the situation before determining that further substantive communication regarding the dispute should occur through counsel. Your attorney is welcome to contact Rasmus Auctions directly on your behalf, and we will respond through the appropriate channel. We understand that you are dissatisfied with the outcome, but we disagree with the characterization that Rasmus simply accepted more than $14,000 and then denied you access to your purchases. Buyers are responsible for complying with the payment and removal requirements associated with each auction, and those requirements apply regardless of the size of the transaction.

I'm having fun exploring this world of online auctions. I have a shopping list of items I'm looking for and set bid limits in advance. Note that sniping does not work on Rasmus options, bidding in the last minute just adds another minute to the clock. I've picked up from a number of the common locations: Laurel, Alexandria, Fredericksburg, and Harrisburg. My experience has been a little different across sites. I really haven't had any issues with any of the sites other than Harrisburg. Typically, the listings show online images of the item and photos of either the item itself or the box it's in. Occasionally those item photos are a bit misleading, in that they'll share a closely cropped photo of one side of the box, though in reality there's a gaping hole on the other side. I haven't had any big surprises with any of the items from those sites, however, leading to my 4-star review. My one experience with Harrisburg, though, was different, and I will not be participating in auctions from that site again. I got 10 items, and 4 of them had significant issues. One listing contained NO images of the actual item, which would have been helpful, as "missing 1 box" meant that half of the item was missing. Replacing it would cost the price of a new item or double the price of a Marketplace item. The second item was an electric power tool. The example image and the box were of different items, and the item itself smells strongly of gasoline. I'm hoping the gasoline isn't someplace that can cause a fire when I plug this thing in. The third item was for another electric appliance. The photo of the box looked pristine. It was described as "[Item/Model No.] packaging diagrams the [cool features]." That looks like it was written by AI, right? Well, to me it seems the description was deliberately misleading as the box DID NOT contain the item, just accessories and paperwork. It would have been just as easy to give an accurate description as it was the misleading one "box is lighter than it should be". I've never seen such a weird description on an item that didn't have the issue. The 4th item was also a power tool, though with the least problematic issue. The item was described as new out of box, but if that's true the item had been out of the box and probably in the sun for a VERY long time. In the end, I wasted more than 2/3 of the money I spent on the 10 items, and the 4 hours of driving just added insult to injury. So, my advice is, set limits for yourself in advance, put in your final bid ~2:15 before the closing time, and avoid the Harrisburg auction location. Have fun!

Christine, thank you for the detailed and balanced feedback. We appreciate you recognizing the positive experiences you've had at our Laurel, Alexandria, and Fredericksburg locations. We also appreciate the specifics regarding your Harrisburg experience. Some auctions on our platform are managed by independent sellers who are responsible for cataloging, photographing, describing, and releasing their merchandise. While auction merchandise is sold as-is, we still expect listings to provide buyers with useful and accurate information about what they are bidding on. The examples you provided regarding missing components, inconsistent photographs, and item descriptions are helpful, and we will be reviewing this feedback with the seller responsible for that location. Thank you for participating in our auctions and for taking the time to provide constructive feedback. We hope your future experiences with Rasmus continue to be positive.

I've won items at 2 auctions now. The first was one in Maryland, and it was an awesome experience. Scanned our phone, promptly brought our items to us, everything was as expected. They even helped us load our truck, which we weren't expecting but was helpful. The second experience was... Not that experience. We showed up and gave our name. I included a photo of the listing in my Google review, but the item was listed as quantity 6 of a two pack of boards. We measured and confirmed that 12 of the boards was what we'd need for our space, so we bid on that and won. They provided us with 6 boards total, instead of the 12 you would get if any other website worded a listing in such a way. When I asked them about this, they kept saying 2x3=6, which, while true, didn't apply to this listing, as no where on the listing did they say anything about 3. The woman working there also mentioned that the listings were written by AI and sometimes pick up the wrong numbers. We brought this up to Rasmus support, and when I told them that if I purchased from Amazon for example, and the listing said pack of 2, and I ordered 6, I would get 12 total boards. The support person told me this was not Amazon. They sided with the sellers. Screenshot of this attached in my Google review. We had also purchased a sink. They looked around some, then told us someone else had taken it? It was just gone. They would refund us at least, but unfortunately we had also bid on an accessory specifically fitted to that sink. We asked if they could refund us for that as well, since they lost our sink, and they said no, our only options were taking the accessory or forfeiting it. This was a really frustrating experience all around. I would not recommend this company to anyone. If you have to use the company, I would suggest avoiding any Richmond auctions that list "711 Hospital St, Richmond, VA 23219" as the pickup location. Or at least, don't trust any of the numbers they list.

Casey, thank you for the detailed feedback. We’re glad your first experience with Rasmus was a positive one, but we understand why the Richmond auction left you frustrated. The quantity issue you described is something we take seriously. Regardless of how a listing is created, quantities and descriptions should be clear enough that a buyer understands exactly what is included before placing a bid. We are continuing to improve our cataloging and quality-control processes, including how technology is used to assist with item descriptions. We’re also sorry that your purchased sink could not be located at pickup. While we’re glad a refund was provided for the missing item, we understand your concern that the accessory was purchased specifically for that sink and why the two issues were connected from your perspective. Your feedback regarding both the cataloging and pickup experience at this location will be reviewed with the seller and our team. We appreciate you taking the time to document what happened and provide specific examples that can help us improve.
