Cracking can sometimes happen due to facial movement (especially with expressive areas like smiling), as well as the amount applied or skin preparation beforehand. You might find better results by applying a very thin layer to clean, dry skin and minimizing movement while it sets. Hi Joan, Thank you for taking the time to write such a detailed review and for giving Plexaderm a real try, including reordering, that means a lot. The Plexaderm works by forming a temporary tightening layer on the surface of the skin, so its performance can change depending on things like how puffy your under-eyes are that morning, skin hydration, and whether any other skincare products are underneath. Even when applied correctly, those factors can make it work better some days than others. Adding more product or reapplying after it sets can also sometimes lead to less consistent results or you may experience reside. We understand your frustration, especially after trying different amounts. Thank you for the detailed feedback. First, there’s no evidence that the formula “stops working” over time or that it builds tolerance in the skin. Products like Plexaderm work mainly through a temporary tightening film (silicate-based technology) that sits on the skin surface rather than changing the skin itself. Because of that, it doesn’t behave like a treatment that “trains” the skin or becomes less effective with long-term use. What does change over time is usually one or more of these factors. Skin changes with age or Hydration and skincare layering. The Plexaderm formula has not changed. When experiencing residue, the Plexaderm formula is quite powerful and if too much is applied you may experience dryness, over tightening, or even see residue. We recommend trying a smaller sized application and spreading it out evenly. Please allow a full 10 minutes for Plexaderm to dry. If you are still experiencing residue, try dampening a cotton ball/swab and gently pat on the areas of concern, this will help take away any unwanted product.
