I'm very impressed by their comprehensive journey through the caged system that is ideal for: navigating the neck, the major and pentatonic scales, major chords, numbering, and in general the foundation for guitar. It's modular approach and system design balances flexibility to explore at your pace or bookmark to go back, while being thorough enough to walk you through the specifics and incorporate effective drills to make the knowledge stick. I haven't found anything that compares and I wish I had found this decades ago.

Pickup is awesome!
If you're looking to add to your guitar skills in a structured way, Pickup is the perfect way to do it. They help breakdown skills into digestible, short form lessons that are well thought out and well taught. I've definitely improved my skills and learned a ton since I started a few months ago.

I liked the lesson content in Jazz grade 3, clearer links between the lessons and performance pieces would be helpful.
I liked the lesson content in Jazz pathway grade 3 and thought most explanations were clear (although sometimes I felt more detailed and slightly slower explanations from Cecil would have been helpful). I would like to see the final performance pieces be more closely/clearly linked with the concepts learned in lessons. I imagine the links were there, but I’m new to playing jazz so it would have been helpful if that had been explained in separate videos as part of the ‘performance lessons’ in addition to videos of the licks.

I’m loving the CAGED pathway
I’m loving the CAGED pathway. I rushed through the earlier version of CAGED, but now I’m taking my time and really learning a lot. I like the PDF’s as they allow me to study and internalize the patterns when I’m away from my guitar.
The lessons are great, loving the jams and I can feel my soloing ability increasing.
Whenever someone asks the best way to learn guitar I say PickupMusic!

I love learning the different techniques while getting a better understanding of the theory behind it. I still have some work to do in bringing it all together, but I love learning all these new things!

Solid place to start or polish your guitar skills
two things that stood out from others
1. their pathway system is incredibly good as their tutors.
2. jam along with band not just learn but applied in musical way.
Bit pricey though

A rewarding experience worth every penny.
My guitar learning has been a pertpetually ongoing process for the past 10 years or so. During this journey I have enrolled in Guitar Tricks, Fender Play, Guitareo, Udemy , Teachables and many more. If there is a guitar course out there, I probably have given it a try. I finally settled for Pickup Music. For me this site instantaneously clicked. The material is nicely divided up into Genres , Masterclasses, Pathways , Five minute lessons, Practice sessions etc. There is opportunity to get your skills evaluated at NO EXTRA COST by uploading your performance. The feedback to questions, comments, concerns is quick. Its almost like there really are live people working behind the scenes and you are not all alone. I have never seen Guitar theory taught so simplistically and in such a fund indulging manner. For example , CAGED pathway is phenomenally well done. There are many many more. My learning continues and I look forward to being a member here for a long time. Cheers !

How to become a rounded guitarist...
I had played guitar for a few years casually, cobbling together method books, old brand name DVDs, tutorial videos, and chord identification software. I knew I had picked up some bad habits along the way, and so I decided when I wanted to get serious about guitar again to check out Pickup Music and to start in the Beginner course. I'm so happy that I did.
The beginner course is a combination of beginning music theory, rhythm, and lead guitar. So while I was clipping along with 2/3rds of those topics, the third was totally new ground for me and I loved the experience of both feeling super competent, and still knowing I was learning things I'd never considered as aligned with my goals before. The progression is so intelligent, you're learning something new and building on what you learned before in each lesson so that you can become a super rounded player.
Karl Kerfoot is an amazing teacher, and he slips in the most ingenious little hidden easter eggs in his lessons... you can tell he is in the right profession and has been doing this for years. I love knowing that he is going to be the instructor for not just the beginner's course I'm about to complete, but also the next three levels to come.
Another thing I love about Pickup is that you can be as involved or uninvolved with the community as you want to be. The performance feedback, virtual group lessons, and the forum boards are all totally optional parts of the experience. As someone who doesn't aspire to get on stage, but wants to pursue music as a life long hobby for myself, I am very grateful to get to decide how to best use Pickup Music for myself and my goals.
I'm so happy that I decided to get a subscription to Pickup Music for myself for the year, and I already have lots of courses queued up in my dashboard to help me along.
