Skype let me down Phone 2 lifte me up. After Skype went under with zero notice I was caught in a very serious problem as many of my contacts I only speak to through skype. Phone 2's ability to port your number gave me and all of my contacts a way to keep our interactions as is and not lose a step.

Its a good app to have a second number phone but it is more suitable for business than for personal uses, because has a lot of functionalities that I'm not fully using them. I'm using it to receive bank SMS mostly.

Hi JD — thanks so much for the kind words 🙏 We’re really glad Phone2 is helping you keep a reliable second number, especially for things like bank SMS. Even if you’re not using all the business features, we’re happy to have you here and will keep working to make the app even more useful for both personal and business users. Thrilled to have you with us! 🎉 - Phone2 Team

I paid for an individual one-year subscription without understanding that it does not allow for a user to phone numbers in the U.S. Potential buyers need to be aware of this as it essentially is useless to me. It is apparently intended for small businesses to be able to receive calls, not to make them. After I posted this, Phone2 reached out to me and offered a refund, so good for them.
Response from Phone2Aug 30, 2025
Hi Stephen — we’re very sorry for the misunderstanding. Phone2 absolutely includes outbound calling and SMS. The only extra cost is the TCR (The Campaign Registry) fee required by U.S. carriers for outbound SMS since 2025. We pass this fee through with no markup, but we understand how it can be confusing and we apologize if it wasn’t clear during signup. We do our best to explain this at each step of the signup process, and we’ll continue improving that clarity. Please email us at [email protected] so we can either issue you a refund or help complete the registration if you’d like to keep your number active. Thank you for giving us the chance to make this right. - Phone2

UPDATE: In response you your reply, This is the same exact reply I have received every time I have tried to talk to you and when I respond privately in email, nothing changes. As a marketer, I see the issue. There is a break in your ad funnels, and we are not always getting what is said in the ad. and then it changes. I have gone through this multiple times which is why I am now writing a review. You all have treated me like I was lying. I know what I signed up for based on the ad. If I didn't pay attention to the fine print that is my fault but on the ad it said $4 ( I am paying $5) and that unlimited SMS ... never mentioned ONLY OUTGOING. This was before Skype even stopped working so I can't go back and check it... When you all were targeting the market... But now I am stuck with poor service and no fix or help. You all post these responses to make yourselves look available but when we go private, it's not the same. So let's take care of it here. Thank you. Poor customer service. They have so many different priced marketing funnels out there that the ads aren't lining up and you might not pay what the ad shares. When you contact them, They don't problem solve, they argue and try to prove themselves right. The service sucks. It never rings so always a missed call. The ad I clicked to get my service said SMS and I sent an SMS and now they said that my plan doesn't cover it and now I can't send SMS any more. App and online both are missing calls and I have enough computer experience to understand settings. It is all around just a poor UX and customer service provider and I would suggest trying to find something better

Hi there, we’re really sorry for the frustration, and especially if any of our past communication came across as argumentative. That’s not the experience we want to provide. 🙏 To clarify our pricing: we currently offer two plans — a basic plan and a pro plan. We’ll make sure that’s always clear up front. You can see a summary here: checkout.phone2.io On the call reliability side: have you updated to the latest Android/iOS build (released Aug 23)? This update fixed several issues with missed calls. Please email us at [email protected] so we can review your account and issue a refund or make things right. Thank you for giving us the chance to improve and we're very sorry for any disruption this has caused your business. — The Phone2 Team

Love this service exists. As an expat living abroad I purchased with this retirement of Skype, to receive 2FA for my bank and credit card purchases. It works with all of them to receive the codes with ease.
