Due to a shortage of my prescription nationally, I reached out to Amazon’s pharmacy per the recommendation of my doctor. They have my prescription in stock but REFUSE to send it to me, actually cancelled my purchase because my insurance company, Anthem, participates with other online pharmacies. They specifically told me by two differently people that they are only sending my medication to patients who have “preferred insurance companies.” When asked what makes one preferred I was told that only those companies that only use Amazon for online prescriptions and don’t use any other online providers. I feel like this should be illegal. They are denying people their medicine because their insurance companies don’t exclusively use them.

I switched from my established mail-order pharmacy OptumRX to Amazon pharmacy because I love Amazon Marketplace and its reliability. My year at Amazon Pharmacy has been terrible, many things are half-baked and I don't think Amazon is really investing or putting effort in it. I kept getting messages every month that my insurance had rejected my refills, only to get sent anyway on the last day before I was out. The web site is chaotic, you can tell it's done by someone else than core Amazon. Auto-refill, which should be the first thing an online pharmacy provides, was only enabled a few months ago. Recently I waited for a refill that had no problems before, only to get it delayed and delayed over 2 weeks, and then finally cancelled. Support told me I need to order it again. I'm out of medication for those 2 weeks now, no help from Amazon. I'm going back to OptumRX again. On top of all of this, Amazon is actually more expensive than OptumRX. As I said, I love Amazon and this is why I changed to their pharmacy, my motto usually is "If it's not Amazon, there will be issues with the order". Amazon Pharmacy is giving Amazon a bad name.

Critical medication was sent days late on auto fill and customer care says " good luck, maybe it will arrive on time."

Horrible. Don't work on first come basis. They prioritize depending on your insurance or if you are a current customer. Glad I didn't transfer everything. Started with one to give it a try.

This is the single worst pharmacy I've ever used. It clearly was not ready for primetime. They simply don't know how to deal with insurance and push it on you. Additionally, they do not cold pack their medicines correctly and they become hot in transit. Absolutely unacceptable.

The good: great prices, very positive experience with customer service about shipping options. The bad: I don't trust home delivery because of past theft issues. Use Whole Foods Amazon Hub for all orders. Amazon Pharmacy won't ship meds to their lockers or Whole Foods. Only safe option available is c/o UPS store. They charged me $10 to pick up my meds. So much for free shipping.

My experience with Amazon Pharmacy has been absolutely abysmal. The app and website are riddled with bugs and the service is constantly adding the wrong prescription, or telling me incorrectly that I'm out of refills, or even in one case totally deleting my dependent child's account. About the only thing it gets right is delivery, because, Amazon.

Since day one of our insurance changing to use Amazon Pharmacy for mail order refills we've had nothing by problems. EVERY time we get notifications that our meds are ready to refill, we log in and find that Amazon has already put the meds they think we need in the cart. Many times this is incorrect or the meds are not needed which causes problems if you aren't paying close attention or are assuming that Amazon works are cleanly as say Express Scripts. Amazon continues to tell us that they cannot do this, but it happens over and over again. IF YOU USE AMAZON PHARMACY BE VERY DELIGENT TO REVIEW YOUR ORDERS. They are really good at gas-lighting the customer when they don't know what their own algorithms or programs are doing that is inconsistent with how medications should be dispensed.
