Letter Mill (yep, just as ethical as a puppy mill)
This is a scam. I have a (real) therapist and a psychiatrist but apparently these ESA letter writing lobbyists got a law passed where you have to have a special license (beyond your medical license or LCSW, etc.) to write an ESA letter. This means (if your doc/therapist doesn't have this bonkers extra license) instead of clients paying their real medical professionals their $10 - $20 co-pay for the ESA letter, they are forced to go to some letter mill (like Pettable) and pay in excess of $100 to spend 10- 15 minutes on the phone with some stranger telling them whatever they need to hear to get an ESA letter. (To her credit, the letter writer assigned to me was a nice stranger. And yes, she is a licensed therapist but she was not *my* therapist.) But yeah, you'll get a letter whether you actually clinically need one or not because that's what you're paying for. That doesn't make it ethical, but hey, America, capitalism, blah, blah - amirite? Oh - Pettable sent me an email asking me to leave this review, otherwise I wouldn't have bothered. Really kids, you strong arm me into using your letter mill by pushing out the real professionals and expect a positive review? Nahhhhh

HI Ashley, thank you for your feedback. I'm sorry that your experience with Pettable did not meet your expectations. There is no law requiring a "special license" in addition to a medical license, clinical social worker, clinical counselor, ect. Any of those license types (and more) are capable of writing ESA recommendations. If you have an established relationship with your primary physician, psychologist, therapist, or social worker they can absolutely write an ESA recommendation for you. However, some people do not have a regular physician or therapist, or do not have insurance to help reduce the high cost of in-person care to a reasonable $20 copay. For these situations, Pettable offers an accessible route to licensed professionals who can conduct a legitimate consultation. You will only receive a letter if you clinically need it. If you do not qualify, we will refund you 100% of your purchase. Thank you for your feedback :)
