Marvelous Beckman was absolutely amazing and handled all of my needs so swiftly and efficiently. Highly recommend her. Especially because I had already had my ESA’s through my old therapist and just needed them recertified. However, the hidden fees for documentation is a bit of a bummer considering I was asked during the initial sign up if I would need verification for my ESA’s through a third party. When I selected yes, I was not made aware of any fees at all and just assumed the initial amount was what I owed. However, learning Pettable then charged me again just for her to tell the third party they were approved seems a bit steep and also predatory business. I do not blame Marvy for this at all and know this is policy for Pettable, I just wish they were a bit more transparent in their pricing.

I have used pettable in the past for ESA letter. What I don’t like or feel comfortable about Pettable (and I’m sure other ESA company es do the same) is that the company pears you with a new counselor online every year (for renewal) for a 15-30min phone call. I don’t know this person nor do I feel fully comfortable to tell them about my life whole life story or answering personal questions. I wish there was another alternate way to get renewal letters that was less intrusive.

I liked the ease of scheduling. I dislike the fact that Pettable emailed me a link to video chat and I arrived early and it didn't matter because I was called on the phone instead. I almost didn't have my phone with me. Not cool, Pettable--I could have missed this appointment.

I'm having a tough time with this and probably should just get a professional trainer. My dog is a bordoodle so extremely intelligent and already trained on most basic things (sit, stay, down, leave it, and some fun stuff like ringing a bell to go walk and putting her toys away). But 8 months of the year we are rural so no leash and 4 months (now) we are in the city. I stopped the pulling by getting a harness but she sill walks with her tail between her legs and still freaks out and doesn't listen if she's startled (all the time in the city). She goes to work with me and is very social but I just don't think I can accomplish this service dog thing with her.

TL;DR If you have a pre-existing mental disability and just need a therapist to sign a paper, Pettable works and gets everything over with quickly. But, be prepared to pay $50 more than the advertised price, and do not expect a "real" consultation or a respectful therapist. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The ESA letter worked great and allowed me to bring my two support animals into the new state I just moved to! (Granted, I did have a pre-existing mental disability so my review mostly applies if you have a legitimate reason to have an ESA.) I just have a couple of complaints. First, there was an additional $50 invoice charged in order for my therapist to send the paperwork over to my landlord. I was not made aware of this beforehand, and I wish this additional fee would be advertised more clearly before the initial $150 purchase. Regardless, the $200 total I spent to consult with a therapist and get my ESA letter approved was still much more affordable than the ridiculously unaffordable pet fees at my current residence. My other complaint is that my "consultation" didn't feel like a real therapy session. I personally already have ESAs and just needed a therapist licensed in my new home state to approve me, so it's not like I was trying to commit ESA fraud. However, the consultation definitely made me FEEL like I was doing something wrong, as my therapist called me for about 8 minutes total and just asked a series of generic questions that I had already filled out online. The one thing that stuck with me is when she asked how much I had been sleeping and I said "recently, about 9 or 10 hours, since my depression is making it harder to get out of bed". Her response was "Wow, I wish I could sleep that much! Anyway, you're good for an ESA, thanks for calling." I just sort of hung up, baffled by the extreme lack of professionalism when I attempted to share one of my worst MDD symptoms. Pettable advertises using "real therapists", but I would NOT call this "real therapy".

They gave me an ESA letter based on my symptoms and experiences but it was a two minute call and when I tried to elaborate on anything they would interrupt me and she implied that it wasn't extremely important for e to have this letter and kind of brushed it off.

The process of using the service was great. It was quick, thorough and polite. However, the letter provided was not accepted by my condo association, as they recognized it as from an online source. Something to consider, the $200 letter does not guarantee anything.

REVIEW EDIT: The process was fast. I'll give them that. I had my appointment the same day, and I received my letter within minutes of hanging up. My “appointment” with my therapist was really just a phone call that lasted all of 5 minutes. The questions he asked were extremely vague. I expected more of an evaluation to confirm my disorder, but instead got the impression that they were just trying to check off a couple boxes. Upon submitting my letter to my apartment, they sent me a secondary form/questionaire for my therapist as a confirmation. When I forwarded it to him, my therapist responded saying that I would first have to pay a “form fee”. Pettable had never mentioned additional fees. I had already paid $200 for the initial letter. When I asked about it, all he said was “no fee no form”. This feels dishonest to me, as Pettable was not up front about any additional fees. I recently found out that I could have gotten my letter for FREE from my primary care provider (which I just did yesterday). In conclusion, although Pettable’s service is quick and accessible, it is overpriced. If you are like me and actually have an anxiety disorder or legitimate reason for needing an emotional support animal, then talk to your doctor or therapist. Even a family doctor can write this letter for you at no additional cost.
