“The topcoat is made up of tougher guard hairs that don’t shed, and protect your pet from the sun’s harmful rays and bug bites. It actually insulates them from the heat. What this means is: do not shave your double coated dog. It’s a mistake to think you’re helping your animal stay cool, particularly in summer, when evolution has provided them exactly what they need to survive. By stripping them of their natural ability to heat and cool themselves, you could be doing more harm than good.”

I don’t believe in evolution, but, I cannot stand lazy people that get double coated dogs and take them places like this to be shaved down. They get no say so in their beautiful coat, and I personally think it’s cruel. If they were real groomers in that sense they wouldn’t shave a dog for somebody unless it was medical reason. A real groomer would know you’re never supposed to shave a double coated dog. Instead, they make it popular. It disgusts me every time I see it.

I should have known better than to buy…
I should have known better than to buy an animal from PetSmart, but I learned the hard way. I bought a guinea pig which later had 2 still born babies 16 days after I got her.
(Btw I had 2 other females when I had her, one of which passed away and had ring worm when I got her but that was treatable)

Training experience
I have 3 dogs and since they are my kids, I invest money in them. I have used Petsmart training. My current pup is enrolled in the intermediate class. I paid for the package and I have a friend that I recommended Petsmart training to and she bought the package.
We did the puppy class. It went well.
Then, we started the intermediate class. If I knew what I know now, I WOULD HAVE NEVER BOUGHT THE PACKAGE!!!! We have no physical location to work in. WE ARE JUST STUFFED in individual aisles.
It’s difficult to hear everything because we are so spread out. The first two or three classes started late because displays had to be moved out of the middle of the aisles.
Still I have tried to work with it but today did me in. I ended up in 3 locations. First, I put my stuff down and as I journeyed to the back of the store to get a stupid stool; another student commandeered the aisle. So I sat in the aisle next it it.
The trainer had us move again. This time in the aisle in front of the Vet and Grooming center. We might as well been out in the middle of the Interstate. We couldn’t hardly work at all. Yes, distractions are part of it but ALL WE HAD WERE DISTRACTIONS!
Somewhere in the process, I laid my phone down. Couldn’t find it. It had gotten knocked back on dog food bags. Yes, I should have had a pocket deep enough to put it in.
I run around everywhere to find it. Even busted my lip in my frenzy to open the car door. So, when we finally found my phone, I’m angry frustrated and bleeding. (At least, I got to meet some of my other class members. I usually can’t see them in the other aisles.)
The trainer was kind and even scheduled a make up class.
I like the instructor. He’s the probably the best Petsmart trainer I’ve worked with. However, HE HAS NOWHERE TO WORK!
I believe that this company understands that the training brings in customers who not only pay for training but buy other goods and services. I would think that accommodating the training classes would be a PRIORITY but obviously not at the Powell location.
I chose Petsmart as a venue because of the interaction between other pets and their owners. I knew that we would have to work some in the store. I DID NOT EXPECT TO BE SITTING IN BETWEEN FEED BAGS WONDERING WHO WAS IN MY CLASS and WHAT THE INSTRUCTOR IS SAYING!!
THE ADVANCED CLASS HAD BETTER NOT BE LIKE THIS!!!
IF YOU CANNOT ACCOMMODATE US THEN DON’T TAKE OUR MONEY!!!!!!!!!!
And, no, I do not want to go across town to another location. I already work with a private trainer in working with my other dog, who is in service dog training. I will just pick up with him and find another way to get her with other people and pups.
This needs to be resolved.

Scheduled grooming for my dog
Scheduled grooming for my dog. Explained his size and breed and that he was an outdoors dog. We get him groomed a few times a year with baths and brush we give on our own. Drove an hour to Clovis from the country. They called us 30 minutes later claiming they wanted to shave him. You do not shave Great Pyrenees! Their fur protects them. I can comb out any mats in an hour. It takes patience! I just have limited time sometimes. He refused to even bathe my dog as he claimed it would make the mats worse. What a crock. I use shampoo and conditioner. Then I comb them out, patiently. These people are just lazy and want only inside pets who come in clean having just been groomed the week before. Oh my goodness! They might actually have to work where my dog was concerned. What a waste of time and gas.
Well my dog didn’t get pampered. He just got me. I was probably a lot nicer and more patient than any of them will ever be. It’s a shame, because they missed out on a sweet dog that looks like Santa Paws.

I honestly can not say anything good…
I honestly can not say anything good about this store. Last year, for months they would advertise Cat Condos that never came to that store. When I called it on them after several months of false advertising, it finally stopped. Cat treats, every flavor is priced differently. I questioned them on this and they said well it is different flavors. That is like pricing every flavor of cat food differently. Their quality of cat products are of a lower grade then the Dollerama at quadruple the price! And to top it all off, about 2 weeks ago I was accosted at the checkout and accused of stealing carts! I am a disabled senior and when I have to get litter I take the cart over to Sobeys do my shopping and take a taxi home. I was horrified and traumatized and left the store and will never ever go back. I filled a complaint. The first 2 times it was thrown in the garbage, the third time I get a response from management. They wanted to talk. Well I talked I wanted to know what happened to the employee who did such a thing. No response. Stay away from Pet Smart!

pet smart should get sued or something…
pet smart should get sued or something because i took my dog he is a poodle mixture with a cavapoo i took him to the groomer section to give him a better look and cut his nails and waited for 4 hours like always. A few hours later when I come back to come pick him up my dog comes hurt with a lot of cuts and him bleeding when we got home his nails were bleeding and then he couldn't walk he could've barley he didn't want to play that much. Lot of my friends and work friends Have told me that why we take our dog there and that its the worst place ever and that they talk bad to them and hit them. thats my opinion of petsmart IN STAMFORD CT never bring ur dog there.

Customer associate Emily at the…
Customer associate Emily at the Mandarin location on Sunday September 29,2019 was OUTSTANDING in her customer service application. She greeted us at the door asking if we needed help and directed us to the forest aisle for the product we were looking for. We found it, the feline furminator, and took it to the register askingnif the company price matched which she cheerfully replied “Yes we do” and scanned the UPC of the item on the pet smart app and applied the discount. She remembered to ask if we wanted to donate to the store then processed the transaction. I inquired about Cat grooming and she offered the suggestion I go to that department to inquire on a price. Bottom line she did a stellar job that I would definitely give 5 stars. Sorry so long winded but I myself am a retail manager and know talent when I see it.
