They aren't transparent with their cancel policies, they use "dark patterns" during their cancel process to attempt to get you to keep your membership, they use a "code of conduct" to blacklist previous-members phone numbers for filing a complaint with the bbb/ftc (the "code of conduct" referenced doesn't even APPLY to previous-members, only current-members). And their privacy policy email address does not work. Horrible company.

Super helpful for minor ailments in your pet.
This app is perfect for those situations where you need urgent help, but not extreme enough to warrant a vet in-person visit. Concerning behavior or symptoms with your pet? Use Pawp!

Stay away
Their "vets" are just there to sell you products they probably make a commission on. They don't care about your dog. Fortunately, I didn't have to use the insurance benefit, but I doubt they would approve any claim without first trying to sell more product.

This was the worst experience ever
This was the worst experience ever. My dog had significant facial swelling and started to get lesions on her body. I was approved to take her to the vet and activate the emergency fund. Pawp denied my emergency fund. After a follow up she was diagnosed with an autoimmune disease that attacks her fat cells. The vet told me that if the lump in her face was left untreated it could have caused sepsis. How is that not life threatening?!?

Do not trust this company, it is fraud
If I had rated this service a year ago, I would have given it 5 stars. I had a dog wake me up in the middle of the night and then collapse. I contacted PAWP through the app and was on the camera chat. They wanted me to show the dog, I did, and was told to rush him to vet. Unfortunately, he died within a few minutes of arriving to the emergency vet. I turned in the notes and invoice and was reimbursed in about 3-4 days. I have been telling people what a great program this is. So now, let's move to recent experience.
In the middle of the day a little over a week ago, my other dog came in limping. I could not find anything on his leg or paw. I had her jump up on bed and saw she had a large tear in her skin and was bleeding. I remembered I needed to contact PAWP for permission to take her to vet (I would have taken her anyway). I was on hold for 1/2 hour until someone came to me on chat. It was not camera chat, only typing type of chat. During this time holding, my dog began to shake and was obviously in a lot of pain. I was petting her and trying to comfort her as I waited. I explained what's going on and was told to take her to the vet. So I went. I signed all paperwork of estimate and that I would pay. After xrays, bloodwork, and then putting her partially under, they cleaned the stitched up the hole. I still have no idea how she got it. I paid the bill and got the invoice and vet notes to send. After waiting 5 days, they asked me to send the vet notes again because they were not complete. I went back to the vet for them to print and uploaded them. About 4 days later, I was told it was declined, but no reason given, just said to read their policy. I read it, but still did not see why they wouldn't cover. I sent emails back and forth to them and was told it wasn't an emergency. Really??? so, I am expected to leave this gaping hole open so it can get infected? I fought it and was still declined. I have canceled the service and feel I have been defrauded with this situation. I think something changed with the organization. So do I recommend this to others? Absolutely not!!!! I will be posting my review everything I can to get word out not to trust or deal with this company.

Pawp decides if its an emergency after the emergency!
I received Pawp pet protection as a benefit of Walmart + and enrolled in the emergency fund. My experience was the same as many other 1-star reviews, my claim was denied, after following their protocols. Their Vet said in her Facetime exam to get my dog to the ER, so I went.
The ER had me sign an advance authorization to bill me whatever the treatment would cost. Their estimate was $800 to $1500. It was my confidence in Pawp covering the expense, that led me to sign the form.
After our ER visit, I filed my application for the emergency fund to reimburse me the $1100 bill. Pawp basically said, ‘he wasn’t sick enough, so we aren’t paying!’
I’ve pleaded for their support, but they continued to come up with reasons why I’m ineligible and didn’t follow their rules. They may even reply to this post and tell you how I did not comply.
The fund should cover every pet that their Vets diagnose as needing Emergency assistance, like mine was. The ER is still going to be paid no matter what the ER results are, so should the pet owners!
UPDATE: June 30, 2023
Pawp replied to my review and asked that I contact them again, so I did, hopeful that they would extend assistance to me. Instead, they threatened a fine or jailtime using the laws of the State of Utah, so I absolutely cannot recommend their services to anyone for any reason. They are not fair to consumers.
UPDATE: Sept 4, 2023
Pawp has not responded further. I filed a complaint with the BBB of Brooklyn, NY, to which Pawp has not replied. I’ve contacted Walmart+ asking them to remove this company as a benefit. I am working with the State of Utah Dept of Consumer Protection to restrict them from operating in this state.

Be cautious when you sign up!
I received a promotional code through my Walmart Plus membership for Pawp. I THOUGHT I was signing up for that promotion via my mobile device, come to find out, it was a 3 day trial, not the promotion I was given through Walmart+. So I canceled the 3 day trial same day, and reached out to their support. They provided me with direction and a link to sign up, and instructed me to use my computer, not a mobile device. So when I went to complete the sign up with the promotional code, it was then prompting me to pay $99. So I reached back out and was told that I had already signed up and canceled a trial so I was not able to sign back up under a promotion. Definitely will not be using their services, as they clearly knew what I did was a honest mistake and misunderstanding.

Hi Rob,
Thank you for taking the time to leave a review! Sorry for any confusion on the Walmart+ promotion. We're unable to reactivate memberships once they're canceled in a trial period. We apologize for the inconvenience.
Sincerely,
