Poor Watch Quality - Putting Profits Ahead Of Customer Satisfaction?
I have grown increasingly frustrated with the quality of Original Grain watches over the past five years. During that time I have purchased four watches and had to return two of them because of significant production defects (an astounding 50% defect rate). My latest purchase (Ordered 6/1) - a Jack Daniel's Mechanical Chrono 44mm - was delivered this week with a defective crown post (rendering the watch completely inoperable) and extensive scratches on the back cover of the watch case. It literally looked like it had been used and broken before shipment. Customer service remains unresponsive to my concerns two business days after submitting a return/refund request. How could defects like this possibly happen if there is even a cursory quality inspection of the watch before shipment?? Given the price tag of this watch ($695) I was stunned by its condition. What has happened to Original Grain?? I am left with two possible explanations - either the company no longer cares about quality control (a sale at any cost) or it is poorly staffed and lacks the internal discipline and customer first attitude to prevent these types of problems from happening. My personal experience, coupled with the fact that the company offers no phone or chat service for problem resolution (often resulting in days waiting for a response), leaves me to conclude that they are intentionally putting profits ahead of product quality and customer service. I will likely never purchase an Original Grain watch again. I urge others to think twice before considering this company for your watch needs. Despite its slick product marketing campaign, Original Grain has some significant quality issues that are rapidly tarnishing its image as a good watch maker.
