A while ago I received a large bag from Optumrx in the mail. It sounded like many bottles of pills were inside. Since I take only one statin I called optumrx with questions. They said that they had sent the bag of NARCOTICS in error but that if I had opened the bag, I would have had to pay for the meds. I WOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR THEIR BLUNDER!? Wouldn't it have been illegal to send me NARCOTICS if I had no prescription for them? I THINK SO!!!!!

This business is corrupt
This business is corrupt! They send out a 3-month prescription and then, one month later, send out another 3-month prescription and charge you again. Then, another month later, send out another 3-month subscription. My refrigerator is full of insulin and Ozempic, which I don't need. When I called and complained, the told me that if the "plan [insurance company] allows it, then they are free to send additional medication even if it is not time for a refill." That is just wrong!!

90-Day Refills are not accepted & have to become 100-Day Refills due to their lame Prescription filling Rules causing remaining Refill Issues later on down the road!
I just discovered and found out why so strangely my remaining Prescription Refills were dwindling down & vanishing so quickly from the past as well as now with Optum RX in their Computers? I just recently had a remaining (2) Prescription Refills from my Doctor on file with Optum RX. However, they just recently automatically filled & shipped a 100-Day Prescription Drug to me. When I received it, I right away noticed that on the Prescription Bottle received that it suddenly showed (0) Refills instead of (1) Refill still remaining? My Doctor has also been wondering on this & questioning me on it with neither one of us knowing or understanding what was happening or going on here with my remaining written Refills from her?
I decided to dig into this & contacted Optum RX by Online Chat with previous Image proof & evidence of my remaining Refills being (2) & not just (1) Refill. When I questioned them on this & got down to the bottom of this reoccurring issue after 35 minutes of Chatting with them online, Optum RX responded with:
Quote "If the Order is not being Processed yet, it will show 2 remaining Refills. However, since there was a Refill in late December 2024, there is one remaining Prescription left. Your Doctor only submitted & indicated that the Prescription is for a 90-Day supply of your Medication. The first Refill was used to dispense your Medication in late December 2024. That was for a 100-Day supply from us instead of a 90-Day supply. Therefore, we borrowed the remaining (1) Refill that you had left from your Doctor to complete a 100-Day supply. Thus, it will now show on your end that there is no remaining Refills left because we now only have an 80-Day Supply remaining for your Medication & not a complete 3-Month, 90-Day supply any longer. In the future, it’s best to have your Doctor write up your Prescription Medication up for a 100-Day supply with us instead of a 90-Day supply as for, we do not fill 90-Day supply Prescriptions but instead, make them 100-Day supply Medications for our Customers."
Therefore, I have been losing out on many of my past remaining Prescription Refills with Optum RX because of these lame actions & decisions that they make on their end being, that they do not fill & ship out 90-Day supply of Prescriptions but instead, only a 100-Day supply of them instead. That causing many Customers like me to have (2) 90-Day remaining Refills only until after a Prescription Refill is filled by Optum RX which then, will suddenly show & become (0) remaining Refills in their Computers because they forcefully borrow an additional quantity of Ten of the Prescription Medication from the remaining (1) Refill to complete & make a 100-Day supply leaving behind a virtually still valid, 80-Day supply of our Medications that won't & does not show up as an available Refill because it's no longer a full 90-Day Supply.
It's pretty darn lame & ridiculous how this all works & plays with Optum RX & their Prescription Filling Rules that they have set with only filling & dispensing 100-Day supply of Prescription Medications but not a 90-Day Three Month Supply! That’s clearly causing big remaining Refill issues & havoc's to People like me with our Prescription Medications as well as having to go back to our Doctor's much more frequently because our additional remaining 90-Day Refills in their Computers are vanishing much quicker than they should be due to Optum RX borrowing from them just to make & complete a 100-Day supply of Prescription Medication instead of simply dispensing & shipping out just the written 90-Day supply of the Medications without trying to only ship out a 100-Day Supply of them!

Optum shady ordering practices
Optum substituted non generic drugs for the generic prescription my Dr sent them. Optum sent an email saying they needed my approval and had a link. That link showed non generic drugs and a copay showing TBD after they have shipped to me, then stated they will bill my credit card on file after they determine the copay, after I order. I went to their chat box and was told my copay would be $2000 for the non generic drugs and 0$ for the generic. I called a person and was told my dr sent in non generic, which was a lie because my DR carbon copied me the order. This company is a scam trying to get money from senior citizens who don't read every word on the page... Optum should be prosecuted for falsifying Dr.s prescriptions. What a bunch of criminals that wasted 3 hrs of my day.

Just terrible all around
Just terrible all around. Never have my medications in stock, terrible customer service, just unbelievably awful. I can’t stress enough how shitty this company is with respect to filling my meds.

Optum Doesn't Cover my Anti-Rejection Meds
I've lived with kidney failure for decades. I'm lucky enough to have been matched for kidney transplants twice over that time with the most recent one still going strong. Unless of course, Optum destroys it and sends me back to dialysis.
The transplant medication I rely upon to keep my immune system from attacking my kidney is not covered by Optum. At this point I have no idea what I will do. It's too expensive for me to pay out of pocket. I may end up losing the kidney. I'm in discussions with my nephrologist to see what can be done. There is no resolution yet.
It would seem Optum actually has a financial incentive to have me (or any other renal transplant patient) to reject the kidney and go onto dialysis because dialysis patients are insured through Medicare, relieving Optum (and their parent United Healthcare) of the expensive drugs required by transplant recipients.
Suffice it to say that Optum and UHC are absolutely despicable companies and care about shareholders far above healthcare.

Unbelievably bad service
Company has terrible customer service! When calling you have to argue with a computer to be able to speak to anyone. When you finally get transferred after a long wait you are sent to an offshore call center with rep's who barely speak English. To get transferred to the U S you again out argue with the rep who is insisting on helping you. When finally transferred to the U S and speaking to a rep who speaks American English there is a goods chance the information you receive will be incorrect, which has happened to me twice today. After insisting on speaking to a manager after the second time I was left on hold for 11 minutes and then disconnected! I will no longer do business with Optum Rx.

Liars & thieves masquerading as business
Do not buy prescription plan from United Healthcare unless you want to not receive medications & spend hours on phone. Optum Rx is pharmacy benefits management that united contracts. Optum Rx refuses to notify customer by email or text when script is filled & send tracking info. Just call Medicare & report optumrx for refusing to send script. Optum rx has no trouble charging my credit card.
