Office Depot company policy and…
Office Depot company policy and customer service lied to me. I am so surprised and disappointed! I received an Office Depot gift card as a Christmas gift from a friend. It says on the card "No fee. No expiration date." I tried to use it at my local Office Depot store, and the sales associate in the store scanned it, showing a positive balance. But when she tried to use it to pay for my purchase, it "declined." After a total of 5 hours spent waiting in the store as the in store representative and I spoke with Office Depot customer service, someone finally said that "Gift cards never "expire" but the do "deactivate." The manager on the phone said he would "reactivate" my gift card within 24 hours, but nothing ever happened. The card has continued to decline every time I have tried to use it over the last two months. This could have been a quick and easy fix, with the company just honoring my gift card or giving me a new one. Instead, I tenaciously wasted many precious hours trying to use a gift card that "never expires" because I really needed my intended purchase and did not have other money (I am a college student). Although I was holding a promise, in writing, in my hand, Office Depot Inc. provided no way for their sales associates or customer service representatives to honor it.
