National is so so. I believe that systematically it can do better. The teachers did a good job overall and I benefited from my program but definitely would have liked more real life scenarios as it feels the curriculum is dated and school counseling is only seen through a theories and readings and does not give a real life perspective of what true school counseling entails. Overall, a program that gets the job done and gets you a diploma that you pay for.

The online ABA program is awesome if you already have a solid base of knowledge and experience in the field. You’re basically on your own to learn the material and learning how to apply the principles of you don’t have experience. But if you have experience and can teach yourself than it’s cheap and the classes aren’t hard.

My experience with National University was noting but positive. I had advisors who help made my journey from start to completion very smooth (especially coming from the East coast). They exhibited excellent interpersonal skills and guidance. They not only ensure that I took the necessary courses toward my academic program, they tracked my progress to ensure successful graduation as well. In addition, most of my professors were outstanding, knowledgeable and masters of their crafts . They showed genuine interest in my academic career. They were generous with office hours, offered helpful advice and provided important feedbacks.

National is expensive, did not adequately prepare me for the teaching profession, did not help with job placement or student teaching placement, kept changing advisors on me, lots of irrelevant work to the field, the teachers were nice but over obviously worked and I'm still having to follow up to clean up their paperwork problems, such as not submitting my external certificate scores. I got the piece of paper after 2 years which got me the job and can now write a meaningless essay but that's about it. AVOID!!!

The instructors are knowledgeable, but dated concerning current state of the practice in engineering management. There is a serious focus on retaining accreditation through the use of tough, administrivia tests that students using digital texts can search for/find the answer to the questions. However, there is a disconnect between the nonsense quizzes/exams and applied knowledge needed for passing the capstone classes. Moreover, I experienced no tie-in between individual classes and what was needed for the capstone courses - if not for knowledge gained from a PhD spouse plus decades of professional work, I would have been completely lost in how to prepare a decent capstone project (received honors for my capstone). National has promise for being a go-to institution for advanced degrees. Once they evolve to the point we're industry already operates, National can be a trend setter vs. a wanna be.

The accelerated classes are a huge help. Having professors that have worked in the industry is of major help too.

I went to National to earn my Master's in Public Health with a focus in Mental Health. National was flexible with my schedule as I was a full time student and full time employee working in the mental health field. I enjoyed using the online platform so I could work on my school work and attend classes anywhere. My instructors were helpful and were mindful of assigning realistic work loads during the week, even allowing weekend submissions so I could work during the week, complete smaller assignments, read, study and then be a "weekend warrior" for tests and paper submissions. I greatly enjoyed my internship with the school as I participated in a study abroad internship in Panama. This has become a common eye catcher in interviews after I graduated. After graduating from National, I quickly got a new job in compliance and about a year later had enough education and experience to get my dream job as a Director in a psychiatric hospital. National helped make this happen. They not only educated me on different modalities, but how to implement processes and have data guide the way.
