Today
Today, I contacted Norwegian because one of our fellow passengers became ill and was therefore unable to travel on the return flight. On the outbound journey from Aarhus to Malaga, we flew with Ryanair, who had no problem transferring the additional baggage allowance we had purchased through Kiwi.com to one of the other passengers. For the return journey, we were scheduled to fly with Norwegian. We therefore contacted Norwegian to request that the checked baggage allowance of the sick passenger be transferred to one of the remaining travellers. However, Norwegian informed us that this was not possible due to their internal procedures and that no exception could be made. As a result, we were forced to pay an additional USD 48 for baggage, despite the fact that we had already paid for extra baggage for the trip. We consider this unreasonable and highly unsatisfactory. It is difficult for us to understand why a baggage allowance that has already been paid for cannot be transferred when the original passenger is no longer travelling and the airline incurs no additional cost as a result. Overall, we are very disappointed with the way this matter was handled and with the lack of flexibility shown towards customers in a situation where illness was the reason for the change.
