I ordered my Gardyn in August but waited until September 1 st to set it up. I had no problem putting it together and getting it connected to my WiFi. I am 76 yrs old. Only 20 out of 30 actually germinated. I have since used the pods to plant new lettuces. I am very happy with my yields and an so glad to harvest “safe” greens!

Have several hydroponic systems, Gardyn is the best
I have several different hydroponic style systems from different brands. I decided to try the Gardyn to see how it compared, and am very surprised and happy with it! Gardyn exceeded my expectations and is now the system I will recommend to any of my friends or family looking to get into indoor homegrown vegetables. I have not had to call customer service yet, but they are constantly monitoring their Facebook page and providing feedback and answers to questions in a VERY timely manner.
I did not purchase the membership when I bought my Gardyn since I am a more experienced grower. However, if you are new to gardening (especially indoor gardening) or tend to have a black thumb when it comes to plants, the membership will save you time and a lot of frustration. As part of my 30 day free membership trial, I could see the benefits of the Kelby assistant for anyone that wasn't sure what to do or when to do it, along with the free monthly replacement pods/plant food as part of full membership. If you're not sure if membership is worth it for you, you can do month to month membership until you decide, which is nice.
The overall unit is about 2 ft wide and 1 ft deep, so it takes up a very small footprint compared to other indoor systems (about half the width compared to an Aerogarden Farm). Price also is equivalent to other hydroponic gardens that will grow the same number of plants.
The boxes for shipping were sturdy and held up to the shipping company (the lights come in a separate box/shipment). Setup of the unit ideally took 2 people. For a single person it can be done, but you need something that can hold it up like a 3rd hand. Instructions recommended using the box it came in, but the box was too big to use for me. With the help of a second person, it took about a half hour to fully get it put together. Pairing the wifi was having issues at first, but after a couple attempts (and remembering to press the light button to reset it first), the pairing took. Others have mentioned more issues in this area, but said customer service helped them through it.
I followed the steps to putting the pods in and starting the unit up. After about 5 days, I had over 75% of my pods growing already! The peppers and tomato took about 8 or 9 days before they were showing growth, but by the time Kelby told me to add plant food, all except my chives were well on their way!
I'm now about 6 week in and I have more greens than I know what to do with. For 2 people you can easily harvest a decent sized salad 4 days a week and never run out. I've started making up "gift bags" of salad to give to my friends because it produces more than the 2 of us normally eat. The pepper plants are taking their time growing, but that is typical for peppers. The tomato I've got about 2 dozen little tomatoes growing that should be ready in a couple weeks. I even got thyme and dill to grow, which I've had no success with in other indoor gardens!
Overall, while the price tag may seem a little steep, the Gardyn is worth the fresh produce you and your family will have access to. And knowing exactly how it was grown, with minimal effort on your part once the system is set up, is a great feeling.

The best purchase I’ve ever made!
Love my Gardyn! I can have fresh herbs, lettuce, peppers, and even tomatoes whenever I want as well as fresh flowers for the house. It looks beautiful, it’s very easy to use, and my experiences with customer service have been top-notch. We love ours so much we’re contemplating purchasing a second one. This is a full-proof way to unleash your inner gardener.

I'm most sure what I love most about the Gardyn...
I'm most sure what I love most about Gardyn. Maybe it's the fresh, delicious, easy-to-grow veggies? Maybe it's the amazingly supportive community they've built online? Maybe it's the insanely attentive and responsive customer service? Maybe it's the fact that the tower is as functional as it is beautiful? Spoiler alert - it's all of those things and more! This system is worth every penny. Gardyn delivers on quality and customer service! The whole family (including the picky 4 year old) grazes on the tower all day! Now excuse me while I go buy another...

Gamechanger
I know nothing really about gardening, hydroponics, plants, keeping things alive (exception of my son). I'm also a busy working professional in a senior role and working on an MBA. I do not have time, and I have limited patience for things that are fussy or too detailed.
We got a Gardyn because we wanted fresh greens on demand, we wanted to reduce waste (greens going bad sitting in some back corner of the 'fridge), we wanted something pretty to look at, and as always, we wanted something kinda techy and groundbreaking. Gardyn satisifed all of this for us.
We are several months in--coming up on the 6 month mark. We've made it through the initial growing cycle on several of our plants and have replaced them with new pods, which we are now harvesting. It went very smoothly.
We get about 10 dinner plates of greens each week with some left over for family and neighbors. That's while also growing tomatoes and sweet peppers, which take up some room.
Maintenance is a breeze--I fill up the water about once a week, every once in a while, I'll stuff any stray roots into the pod if they try to sneak out, and once a month, I wash the basin before I refill it with water. Dead easy.
It looks like a little wall of green in the corner of our house, and we and family/friends love to look at it when they come over for quick, socially distanced visits.
The lights are bright at first but then diffuses into a lovely mellow color once the plants germinate and get a little growth.
We could not be happier. No technical issues, I put it together myself in about 45 mins with the directions, and their customer service is super responsive when I have random questions--make sure you join their Facebook group!
We are eating so well these days and I can safely say this is thanks to the Gardyn. Looking forward to buying our second sometime next year. :)

The Gardyn itself doesn’t seem built to last
The Gardyn itself doesn’t seem built to last. Mine has been leaking from plant slots ever since about the two and a half month mark. The company earns stars for responsiveness but after 3 months of occasional troubleshooting, the machine still leaks and I have to keep a towel at the base of the columns or it’ll pool with every single water cycle. The most recent sign of deterioration is a hole in a piece of irrigation tubing that never gets manipulated on the underside of the board. It’s unclear if the hole had always been there and grew or if it is new. I had to use duct tape so the water could pass through. I’ve only had the system for about 5 months. For the price, it shouldn’t be falling apart this quickly.

Hi Andrea, we're so sorry that your Gardyn journey has been more challenging than ideally it should be and appreciate your patience and understanding as we work to resolve your case. Our Customer Support and engineering teams have been working diligently to recreate and understand your device's unique issues that have occurred. It is a highly unusual case, which is why it has taken such a long time to resolve as we attempt to diagnose the problem and provide a fix-all solution. The team was finally able to recreate the issue and will be sending you modified columns to address the leak. There is a one year warranty on all Gardyns, so replacement parts are sent free of charge within the warranty window. Thanks again for your feedback as we look to improve our support system for all Gardyners.

Impossible assembly
There are some issues with connections on the tubing and also the right light looks to be crooked. I don’t have it fully assembled yet and may send it back as I really don’t think I can finish the assembly. Additionally, the Facebook Gardyn group is heavily administered as I said something similar in the group and my post was declined. I’m not confident I can build trust with this company.
Response from GardynNov 12, 2020
Hi Danielle, thank you for this feedback and we're so sorry to hear your assembly process was not as smooth as it should have been. Our Customer Support team is happy to work with you to troubleshoot and can send any replacement parts if necessary. Our Facebook group members help each other out with care tips and even minor troubleshooting. And, sometimes they are critical of Gardyn. It's a dynamic environment, and we allow posts that engage members on both a positive and negative level. However, the Facebook group members are are not really equipped to help with the type of device troubleshooting needed for the issue you described. We ask customers to contact our Customer Support team first to receive timely and effective assistance. This was actually a request from our group members so that technical troubleshooting that required our customer support or engineering intervention wouldn't be distracting from other community-oriented conversations. We're sorry for any frustration we added to your experience in declining the post and hope we can continue to work with you and earn your trust.

Super Tight, Almost Impossible Connections
This was not as easy to put together as we hoped. The LED and irrigation connections are super difficult. There should have been at least two band aids included with the kit because both my Eagle Scout and my husband drew blood working on the connections. I've just recently read on the Facebook Gardyn Group about folks who need to do a "deep clean" on the unit and take the system apart. This sounds like a nightmare to us after our installation experience.

Hi Diana, thank you for giving us this feedback. We're so sorry to hear that your installation experience was not as smooth as it should have been. Our Customer Support team is available to help daily from 9-5 with any assembly issues and can also send replacement parts if at all necessary. Deep cleaning the Gardyn unit is only recommended every 4-6 months. The regular monthly cleaning is easy and only takes 5 minutes, and you won't need to take anything apart. Feel free to reach out to us at [email protected] if you need help with anything at all.
