My husband has Monitech and this device is old and outdated. It continues to have violations and codes!! The violations start with a 6, which means the errors are not on our end. The latest code is 0000. This is getting ridiculous because my husband works out of state, so I am left to handle this crap when he is gone. Be mindful that he caught these DUIs when he was in his early 20s and then finally got a license in his mid 30s. He still has to have this machine even though he hasn’t had a drink in 10 years! The device can’t tell the difference between a donut or alcohol!

With COVID happening, people are using hand sanitizer all the time. My wife has a compromised immune system, so I have to sanitize my hands when I get in the vehicle. I wait like I am supposed to and it still registers as a violation. Even when I got gas on my hand at the pump, I did everything to try and clean my hands (went inside and washed my hands with soap repeatedly) and it still had a violation. I am a commercial fisherman and work out of the state. I can't just drive back to NC in 3 days for an appointment. This is RIDICULOUS.

Please note that the IID will register any trace of alcohol from any source containing it - this is how the device effectively ensures an impaired individual cannot start a vehicle, and how we can confidently state the Monitech ignition interlock is fulfilling its purpose. After installation was completed. The installer was sitting on one side of the desk, I was on the other side. He told me I hade to sign multiple signatures on a electronic pad… I never saw the documents I was signing until he printed them out. I asked questions… he said his job was to install, if I had questions, “call DMV”. The system was still confusing, he wasn’t much help. So far, I’m not impressed with customer support.
