I bought a computer and extended warranty in 5/2023. I had a problem with a small bracket that held a cooling fan over the cpu. I took it in for repair under the warranty. They charged $40 telling me labor is not included. Then the manager said that broken parts are not covered under warranty. If broken parts are not covered then what does the warranty cover! The descr.iption in the warrant states no deductible no surprise charges, but yet they charged me $40. When the warranty was sold to me I was told everything was covered, even if the computer had to be replaced. I had to complain for a while before they agreed to give me a refund. It is only because of the refund that I gave them 2 stars. Moral of the story is do not buy an extended warranty. It is a gimic that they do not honor as they describe it. I even showed them what their own website showed. They told me it was a matter of interpretation. Sorry, it says no unexpected charges or deductibles. How is that subject to interpretation? I would urge everyone to read an EXACT copy of the warranty before you consider buying it.

I took an external drive in that went bad and wanted to see if they could recover the data. Process and services we fine. No complaints. They took the drive to do their analysis. Said it would take 2 days. They text me on the 2nd day and said the failure was mechanical and the only way to recover it was send it to Gillware (it appears they are a partner for this type of work). Cost would be $1350, up front. I thought that was high so I got the drive back and went online. Found 300 Dollar Drives. They had better reviews for this work than Gillware. $300 and another $75 if I wanted to them to supply a new drive. Nothing up front! Once they get the drive they will let me know what they can do and give me a final quote before proceeding. Bottom line, if you have a situation like this, don't even bother with Micro Center. Source it yourself.

Several times I purchased an item online, preauthorization to my credit card went through and I had an order number and all looked good, few hours later my order was canceled (either credit card issue or not in stock, this is why I pointed out my credit card was fine). My other issue is, the length of time to ship. On several other occasions, orders placed took 7 days just to ship out! In a world where businesses ship same day or next day, this is a damn shame it takes so long. Lastly, items may be at a store but Micro Center is not advanced enough to have stores ship items, you must pick up, if you don't live by one... err

This place (Chicago location) has the absolute worst service & repair I have ever seen. I got a PC custom built in June 2020 and bought the insurance plan for 2 years with it, so once the GPU started acting up, I brought it in. I was told it would take 3 weeks for it to even be looked at and then after multiple times of frustration trying to contact and not being able to get through, I was told that it would take an additional 3 weeks because of trying to find a GPU. After more complaining, an employee named Jared was able to look at the PC and cleaned it and called me to tell me that my rabbit fur was the issue causing the crashes and that after cleaning it hadn't been crashing for an hour. After I went home, shortly after turning my PC on and using it for a while I got the same error that I had been getting before. I went to investigate in windows error reporting only to see that it had in fact crashed 4 times during that hour, one of which happened while I was on the phone with the employee. Gerry called me at 6:17 pm and the error I attached with a screenshot happened at literally 6:18pm while I was on the phone with him. Not only that, Jared tried extremely hard to upsell me an antivirus program I wouldn't need for $100 as well as told me I should pay $300 to have them install more fans since it was running hot. If the fan number was going to be an issue, why wasn't I told this when I got the PC built in June 2020? I ended up having to pay $30 and the uber ride there and back for them to clean my PC and still have the same error I was having before. None of this makes sense and just seems like a cash grab, and at the end of the day I still have a broken PC that has a crashing GPU after waiting more than a month just to get it examined. I will change this review based on how this problem gets resolved as I have yet to bring my PC back in, although to be honest I'm not really looking forward to bringing it back in if the employees won't even look at the windows error logs to see if problems are occurring. I came to MicroCenter because I was told that they were kind and were good with repairs, but this MicroCenter must not be like the others because I have only encountered rude employees and long waits from this location. I can't believe the sign in the back says repairs will take 3-5 days yet I had to wait over a month. I tried to be understanding but I still have a broken PC after a month and now I'm probably looking at another long wait time for my PC. I really hope that Microcenter can sort this solution with me because I want to believe what my friends said, but this hasn't been the case so far. UPDATE: I got a message from Gerry telling me that the crashes are being caused from bad airlfow and is still trying to upsell me fans and a fan installation service for 300 DOLLARS. If airflow is such a problem then why did it run 9 months without issue? If this case in particular has bad airflow why was I not notified this when I purchased from Microcenter? Why was I not told to add fans when I first built the PC? Why is my part not being exchanged without questions when I have an insurance plan with the custom build? UPDATE 2: Store has agreed to swap out card with an RTX 3070 as soon as they receive one in a shipment. Will update again after everything is finished. UPDATE 3: RTX 3070 is now in my system and they installed it as soon as they got it. I am glad that I was able to work this out with them and that they were patient while I talked this out with them.

Micro Center has a lot of products in their stores. But be prepared to pay full retail and no discounts. If you need a computer part today, chances are they have it.

Had a laptop go wonky on me. Suspected the system board. I'm an IT professional, but not in the area of laptop repair. Dropped off my laptop at St. Davids, PA location. Tech was quick to get back to me. Sure enough, it was the system board. Would cost more than new laptop to replace it, so I decided to take it back and try my luck with a system board on ebay. Bought it. Downloaded maintenance instructions and replaced the system board. During the repair, I noticed two empty RAM slots. I always max out the RAM when I buy a laptop. I had 64 GB, now I had 32 GB. I never opened the case before this either. When the machine came back up for the first time, I had to re-register Office 365 since it was a new processor and serial number. I log into O365 and looked at my original registration, sure enough - 64 GB of RAM when I first registered. Sent an email to tech. I included before and after screen shots of the O365 info. I gave him the benefit of the doubt and said, "I know things get hectic." 24 hours later - still no response. Still steams me that someone would do something like that. But the people seem knowledgeable and the store has great products. If there is a culture of swiping memory from a dead machine, then I blame management.

Looking for another computer, for my business. I bought the last computer at Micro Center but I think I’m going to shop around. The salesperson was nice and I got a great computer. My biggest complaint was at checkout. I got the Micro Center credit card, 6 months same as cash, which I paid off right away. My problem was when I looked at their finance charge. Flippen 28 percent. People are in prison for loan sharing less than that percent. Ripping off the little people who can’t afford to pay their purchase off in 6 months.
