MiaDonna was extremely easy to work with, and my fiance is absolutely in love with the ring! I initially got the ring size wrong (whoops), but was able to get it resized quickly and without any additional charge. The representatives were thoughtful and reached out to me multiple times through out the process for assistance. I love my engagement ring and I love MiaDonna's ethical way of doing business! MiaDonna isn't a huge corporation that everyone knows about. I stumbled upon MiaDonna when looking for an anniversary present. I liked the style and design of several pieces of jewelry. I had never heard of lab-grown diamonds or lab-grown gemstones. In my mind at the time, lab-grown equaled not real. However, being an avid researcher, I did a significant amount of research on the subject of lab-grown stones. I learned that they are in fact "real" diamonds/precious gemstones. They are chemically identical to their naturally occurring earth-mined counterparts. However, not all lab-grown stones are created equal. I saw many examples of poor quality lab-grown stones from other companies that had many obvious imperfections and sometimes haziness. I learned that this is caused primarily for two reasons. First, some companies use processes of producing diamonds that are best suited for the production of industrial diamonds like what would be used on the edges saw blades for example. These methods produce diamonds that are strong and cheap but don't have the optical quality that jewelry stones need. Second, no matter what method is used, some stones will not be suited to be cut as a gemstone. MiaDonna is above other companies because they use the chemical vapor deposition method of producing diamonds which is typically more advanced and yields more optically consistent results, and they only use a relatively small portion of the rough stones created, keeping only the best. This leads to their lab-grown stones being of superb quality. We received our order and the diamonds are absolutely stunning. The brilliance, scintillation, and clarity are outstanding. The craftsmanship and quality of the settings (band and earrings) are also really excellent. They will custom design pieces too, so you aren't limited to one of their many existing styles. Besides the exceptional products themselves, they also have wonderful customer service. I contacted them with several questions that were specific to our situation; questions about fit, matching existing jewelry, and suitability of specific styles for our circumstances. They offered incredibly professional and knowledgeable advice. It was like speaking with a local jeweler but without the pressure and calculator sales pitches. I also contacted them with some questions post-purchase and they were equally cordial and helpful. If you're interested, I highly suggest investigating their after-purchase policies like free resizing, satisfaction guarantee, cleaning, damage repair, etc. It seems like they take good care of you down the road. One more thing is that I never knew about the devastating effect that diamond and precious metal mining has on so many communities. It wasn't something on my radar. I did a lot of reading about so-called "conflict-free" mines and how that is often a misnomer. I also read a lot about what MiaDonna is doing in Africa to help teach skills and provide alternative trades to communities impacted by diamond mining. All the diamonds and gemstones that MiaDonna sells are lab-grown and therefore truly conflict-free. They also use recycled precious metals for their jewelry so as not to further the damage caused by precious metal mining. Lab-grown diamonds, conflict-free jewelry, a small business; these things are not how I found MiaDonna or specifically what I was looking for when I found this company. However, after seeing their outstanding products AND learning about the company behind them, all I can say is that it feels good to be able to support such an awesome business. The look on my wife's face when she saw her jewelry for the first time was priceless. MiaDonna will be our go-to for years to come.
