I have a Metrobank Current account. I want to open a Metrobank Credit Card account. The bank say this can only be done at a branch, not on-line or by phone. I live in York, and the nearest branches are at Manchester or Sheffield, both over 30 miles away. As travel is not permitted at present, it is impossible to open a credit card account with them. I have explained this to them, but they are completely inflexible despite the current circumstances. Nearly all other credit card providers do allow on-line applications, and are able to do their credit checks without the applicant being present. What is wrong with Metrobank?

Customer service now non existent. Spoke to clueless idiot in so called fraud department, sounded like he was reading from a script when he bothered to speak between long silences. Then I had to talk him through basic banking query until I lost patience doing his job for him. Formal complaint Monday, like they care, definitely closing accounts, have heard good things Starling.

As ratesetter is now part of metro bank my experiences with metrobank are dishonesty, greed and find them overall to be disingenuous. Namely taking a provision fund which was funded by peer to peer lenders, kicking said peer to peer lenders off the platform and giving the provision fund to Metrobank.

Metrobank were always the best in terms of their opening hours. Open 7 days a week with long hours. Not anymore just Monday - Friday 10am - 4pm. Totally useless hours. I will have to close my accounts forthwith.

Card blocked withno explanation - been on the phone now for three hours being passed to one department to another. I have no money for food and at home sick with covid 19. No managers bothered to pick up the phone- customer service say I need to go in the bank to sort it out. so I am off to infect all the staff in the bank. What a great Bank - roll on when I dont need to ever deal with them again

Not very Happy On the occasions I want to withdraw sums of money in excess of 3K I get questioned. Its almost that I am being asked to give approval to the teller what I want to do woth my money. I have also asked in the past to increase the amount i can withdraw on the ATM card. This was also declined.

My fathers online bank account was blocked before christmas 2020 and my father gave metrobank all the right security details which they asked him and as he is in Portugal and he cannot travel to the UK because of the lock down and because of Covid19 and they refuse still to unblock his account and today they promised that they would ring back 3 hours later to unblock his account and we have not received any calls from metrobank and so my father is strandes with no money because he doesnt have access to his money

ABSOLUTELY SHOCKING! I have had a current account with Metro bank for 4 years now and have always been a fan until now. I tried making a transfer to another account which did not go through. My account has now been frozen completely without any notice or contact explaining why with no access whatsoever to my money. Everytime I call I am told it is the head office that has frozen it and no one is available to speak to. I have been waiting for a call back for 2 days now.
