Incorrect place names. There is no such place as "Lake Ontario (Lake America)". The correct name is Lake Ontario. There is no such place as "Gulf of Mexico (Gulf of America). The correct name is Gulf of Mexico. The US president does NOT have the jurisdiction to change place names anywhere except in the USA itself. Outside of the US just the correct, internationally recognised name should be used,

We used Google Maps for our journey home from Wales and, for reasons we still don’t understand, it seemed determined to avoid motorways at all costs. We checked the settings and “Avoid motorways” was NOT selected, yet we were repeatedly directed through villages, along narrow country lanes and on a route that made absolutely no sense for a long journey home. Eventually, after becoming increasingly frustrated with the bizarre route, we switched to a different navigation app. It immediately directed us towards the nearest motorway and onto the sort of route we would have expected Google Maps to choose in the first place. What should have been around a three-hour journey ended up taking us four hours. I understand that navigation apps sometimes divert you because of traffic, accidents or road closures, but there was nothing to explain why Google Maps was so determined to keep us away from the motorway. The fact that another navigation app immediately found a much more sensible route made it even more frustrating. We’ve relied on Google Maps many times, but after this experience I certainly wouldn’t trust it unquestioningly on a long journey again.

You know how ridiculous it is to rename longstanding bodies of water because of Trump’s temper tantrums. The Great Lakes? Really? Shame on you. I have deleted this app and downloaded MapQuest.

Inaccurate labelling of Lake Ontario and the Gulf of Mexico is why I am deleting this app. Shameful cowards who decided to capitulate. MapQuest is better!

Deleting the app. The renaming of historic geographical place names is politically motivated and simply not right.
