For the second time you are being complicit in an illeagal act of changing the name of international waters. My business will be removing all google maps from our workplace and sadly having trusted Google for decades feel that this lack of ethical behavior shows a decline in integrity that I do not wish associated with our brand.

How can I be expected to trust any information presented in Google Maps when the company is clearly more concerned with currying favor with a fascist regime by engaging in a fantasy world than providing accurate information to their users? Google abandoned the "Don't be Evil" motto long ago, and it shows.

What went wrong? Google maps bent the knee to a tyrant. Accuracy, integrity, and courage apparently are not big concerns at Google any longer. How can anyone trust Google maps info after this?

Your locations for Lake Ontario and Gulf of Mexico should be rectified.

I deleted Google Maps from my iPhone, and now I have deleted Apple Maps as well. I’ve moved to MapQuest. What makes this particularly ridiculous is that changing the geographic name was OPTIONAL. Google and Apple didn’t have to. Yet instead of maintaining some independence and sticking with the established name, Apple apparently decided that kissing Big Orange Bozo’s ring was the better corporate strategy. And here’s the part that really irritates me: I was a very active contributor to Google Maps for years. I contributed reviews, photos, corrections, and information because I believed I was helping make the service better for everyone. No more. I’m done providing free content and free labor to companies that cave this easily to political pressure. My contributions stop here. So congratulations, Google and Apple: you managed to send a longtime Maps user and contributor to MapQuest in 2026. MapQuest! Who saw THAT comeback coming? My phone. My choice. My data. My contributions. Screw them.

It is Lake Ontario and the gulf of Mexico… And it will always be for the rest of the world!
