I purchased two return tickets Melbourne to London, after purchasing the tickets Malaysia Airlines (MAS) changed the flight schedule resulting in 17.5 hrs at KL airport and 1 day delay arriving in London. MAS did not offer any alternative or accomodation during the delay. Initially MAS said I was not entitled to a refund, my travel agent then advised on 31/03/20 that MAS had agreed to provide a full refund which could take up to 12 weeks. I am still waiting and now MAS refuse to give any Indication when they will process the refund except to say "there are substantial delays because of this extraordinary circumstance". If MAS means COVID-19 my refund was due because of a flight reschedule before flights were cancelled due to COVID-19. I think it is totally unacceptable for MAS to use COVID-19 as an excuse for indefinitely delaying refunds. MAS have also implied as a customer I am unreasonable by saying that 'I wish to have my refund processed right away". This is an unfair, unreasonable and unconscionable way to treat a customer as I waited patiently for 12 weeks prior to contacting the travel agent or the airline and then requested MAS to give me or my travel agent a time frame for processing my refund, MAS refuse to do this.
I have submitted a complaint to MAS and had no response.
I have been waiting nearly four months and still nothing.
Read all the comments on Malaysia Airline Facebook webpage before you book a ticket with this airline. They seem to be experts at loosing customers, difficult to find any positive comments.

I’ve recently had two flights cancelled…
I’ve recently had two flights cancelled with Malaysian Airlines with no prospect of another flight anytime soon. On top of this I was lied to about the insurance I purchased from Malaysian Airlines.
I was advised my insurance would cover me for any cancellation and I would be reimbursed after a short waiting period.
In reality my flight got cancelled by Malaysian airlines and I was only offered a credit for my lost flight. I was told I would be reimbursed only if the pilots had gone on strike.
This flight cost 2000 dollars one way. I feel so utterly disgusted and cheated. It’s my second bad experience with this airline and I would never recommend it to absolutely anybody.
These people are quite willing to exploit people’s trust. Don’t trust them at all.
Disgraceful.

Malaysian airlines - Worst Airlines
Malaysian airlines after multiple changes has finally cancelled the flights & I am refused a cash refund. All that is being offered is a evoucher which is not good enough. No one know when the travel restrictions are going to be lifted. Clearly when there is no service provided, the money should be refunded. Specially here where the airline has cancelled the flights, I am demanding my money be refunded.
They have no business ethics and are simply making money in this pandemic by not providing service and yet retaining the money.
I have contacted them on Facebook & all I get is their standard robotic responses which are just an act of copy paste.
Here is an airline which does not care for its customers, their planes go missing & they DON'T CARE!
Other airlines like Singapore are offering their clients a full refund & being supportive at current times.
It must be avoided at all costs!

Airline shows it’s true colours
The airline will not refund cancelled flights and will artificially inflate rebooking prices to ransom your money. Other airlines are suffering but are trying to do right by their customers unfortunately MAS are taking a different approach and applying punitive procedures. I have flown numerous time with them but will never do so again.

A pleasantly revised view on Malaysia Airlines
Flew Kuala Lumpur to London Heathrow - Sat 20/06/20 - MH4. The following is based on a post flight review I've just submitted to Malaysia Airlines:
We found the Malaysia Airlines check-in staff to be very friendly, helpful and efficient. It was all handled professionally.
Aircraft boarding: Again sincere, friendly and efficient staff. One thing that did let you down was a gap between the top of the airbridge and the aircraft fuselage. There was extremely heavy (jungle!) rain which meant the door area just inside the aircraft was gathering water and the crew were having to put cloth down to soak it up. It didn't bother me as I'm a seasoned traveller but for any irregular fliers or first time customers it would not have looked great. That should have been sorted before boarding or the airbridge adjusted during that process to correct it.
The crew greetings were friendly and professional whilst first impressions of the aircraft cabin were of it being very new and clean. "Good airline" it said to me.
The loading was very light and you would therefore expect the crew to do things well. They did not disappoint throughout the flight; professional courteous, helpful and friendly.
Inflight entertainment: SIA & Emirate's is probably some of the best across the industry but I did not feel as though the Malaysian Airlines system was lacking, especially on the movie front. I would have liked more games, especially for the kids, and perhaps a classical music radio channel. The latter adds a touch of sophistication and would appeal (be expected?) amongst prospective upper class passengers especially. The screen quality and sound were both excellent.
Legroom: Very good.
Food and cutlery: Fine. I thought the type of cutlery was weighty enough not to seem cheap but was also not as cumbersome or as clunky the metal stuff used ordinarily in a confined space. The type used was very practical and ideal for aircraft use.
Summary: Allowing for my favorable impressions through a lightly loaded flight, the last time we flew Malaysia Airlines it felt old, tired and like a typically poorly run government airline. Truthfully? I was not expecting a lot to have changed for this latest flight but there appears to have been huge improvements made in the interim years. The combination of the most recent really nice livery, a new aircraft fleet and sincere, friendly, professional crew meant - in my view - that there was not a lot of difference between this flight and our outward bound SIA (benchmark?) flight. In fact, I would rate the experience slightly higher on this particular Malaysia Airlines flight - whilst allowing for very high SIA standards.
I think I read recently - prior to Covid - that the airline has been struggling. I suspect much of this can be put down to 'perception overhang' from former misplaced impressions of the type that I carried prior to taking this flight. SIA clearly did Malaysia Airlines a favour where this reviewer is concerned! It seems to me that you just need to tell people about your "revamped" airline through a decent advertising campaign, something that should also be aimed towards instilling further pride and confidence into the crew through singing their praises. They deserve it from what I saw. SIA and Emirates are tough competition but from what I saw you are not as far behind them as some of your staff - or prospective customers - possibly feel.
Just one further thing. There have been times we've looked at ticket prices and Malaysia Airlines' have sometimes compared unfavorably with others. I feel you need to bear in mind everything I've said above about what could be the potentially ongoing but misplaced perceptions. Price accordingly, thus winning customers back BEFORE expecting people to pay higher prices ahead of their "corrected" understanding of where Malaysia Airlines is at now.
Just my opinion though.
Good luck

Can we give 0 stars
Can we give 0 stars. MA will take thousands of dollars then cancell and refuse to refund or even discuss your case. They turn off emails unless you are an agent. It's horrible treatment and they should be ashamed of themselves.

Worst Customer service by Manager Tom and misleading and not refunding.
My parents flight was cancelled by Malaysia Airlines due to covid, travel date on 21 May. And when I called in April end, I was told I can make a different booking free of charge for 1 time.I told I will wait and making the booking later. So when I called on 20 May to make a new booking, I was told to pay the difference of amount. When I asked the agent and Manager "Tom", they refused me to transfer to case management team to raise a case and they were very rude. I wanted to listen to my call made in April where I was told, I can change one travel change free of cost. But they refused that also. Very rude customer service and the Manager Tom is worst. Worst customer service experience. I want to know why they are misleading customers and why I should pay extra when I was told otherwise before. When my earlier calls are recorded, why I can listen to them? Is it not my right as a customer?

3 months to issue a refund, took my booking much quicker!
How can a company think it is acceptable to make it customers wait 3 months for a refund? You took my booking (and payment) quick enough.
To avoid cancelling you flights and giving a full refund you cancelled just one leg of my fight making me have to cancel with you - and you expect customer loyalty?
Do not book with them, do not fly with them (their planes go missing), avoid them.
