it really sucks. it turns on randomly even when there’s literally no smoke

Do not buy these smoke alarms, They say that they "Last 10 years" NO THEY DON'T! They only last like 2 Months, I have an autistic son who is very scared of loud noises, And every time they go off, He is very scared and cries, And we get them replaced then, Then the same thing happens, And if you want better smoke alarms, buy smoke alarms like First Alert, Not Kidde.

Avoid unless you like being woken up at night by false alarms. Purchase 6 kf20 smoke alarms last year, random activation always at night and only for 10 seconds. All now removed and disposed off. Believe the reviews and avoid.

Kidde carbon monoxide detector fitted by the company who fitted my log burner. Supposed to be battery powered for 10 years with no option to change battery and failed within 18 months. Makes an annoying beep every minute which is loud enough to stop you getting to sleep. Pressing button stalls it for 24 hours then it starts again. Of course I don't want to die of carbon monoxide poisoning so this is a serious piece of kit. Tried to get a replacement from Kidde but they (I could name the person who responded but this seems unfair) wanted a receipt (I don't have), the serial number (none on the device) and the year of manufacture (ok). Terrible service and terrible products.

Bought a combination smoke and carbon monoxide alarm in 2019. Ran 4 years with no problems whatsoever, just the normal battery change. On last change of battery (Duracell plus) alarm kept informing of flat battery after just three weeks, (this happened twice) Contacted Kidde (Salah Bahaa) who after a few questions replaced alarm with free post as it has a 10 year guarantee. No ifs, buts, whys or wherefores, just great service from a great company.

I've removed my scathing, seething review. I wrote it when I was angry, and have calmed down now. My cat seems ok, so I'm just grateful he isn't injured in some way. Happy 2024 everyone.

Fitted four Kidde KF2 4973 units in September 2022. These are mains powered, interconnected and 9v battery backed up. After just over 1 year I got a 2 second false alarm, changed out all the batteries in case it was them but experienced further false alarms. Due to the short duration of the alarms it took me weeks to find out that three of the four units were faulty. Scrapped and replaced with units recommended by an alarm company. Considered contacting the company but I decided even if they were replaced I wouldn't fit them again. Avoid.

Kidde smoke alarms I have, hotwired, keep chirping despite changing duracell batteries out often. Contacted Kidde customer service. Promised immediate service. Nothing. Feared for lives of residents here. Removed junk detectors, went with brand that actually worked. DO NOT BUY ANY KIDDE DETECTORS. THEY ARE POORLY MADE AND KNOWN FOR DEVELOPING PROBLEMS WITHIN THREE TO FIVE YEARS, EVEN WHEN HOTWIRED INTO HOUSE. AVOID AT ALL COSTS. SERVICE IS NONEXISTANT. HORRIBLE.
