Wish you had an option for zero instead of 1!
Since the transition, I have experienced multiple serious service failures.
• My husband and son waited nearly two months to receive their replacement cards.
• My own card was declined during a normal purchase in St. Louis, and Imprint locked the account. Their verification process took two weeks before the card was usable again.
• On 7/1/2026, I paid my full balance electronically. The payment cleared my bank the same day.
• As of 7/8/2026, Imprint still has not credited the payment to my account, even though they received the funds on 7/1.
I actually spoke with a live agent today. The AI Chat online told me it would take 3-5 days to process payments. Then the live agent today said 10-11. I asked to speak with his supervisor who told me 5-7. They all just make stuff up to cover for how bad their system is. This is not a normal ACH delay. The Federal Reserve’s ACH system settles same‑day, and Imprint had the money on 7/1, the same day the payment was submitted.

Shell customer since 1988
Shell customer since 1988. Never any problems. Have two Shell stations near me and often gas up there on the way the work. Enter the unsolicited Imprint card. Activated it to give is a try. I can make purchases in the station such as a drink, gum coffee etc. Try to purchase gas, said the card with a "chip" is not recognized. Asked the lady that works there and she said everyone is having the same problem. Every week I ask her if the problem is corrected and she says "no". Really!!!! I'll use the Exxon stations near me much more now. What a trainwreck!

What a nightmare Imprint is!
I have been a loyal Shell Account holder since 1976. When my Shell account changed over to Imprint in May it has been a communication disaster! I was promised a new card three times but I never received a card!
Today I officially called to cancel my long standing account. I can't and won't do business with such a screwed up company as Imprint!! I'm sure Shell will lose a lot of unsatisfied customers over this change to Imprint!! Hope Shell Oil's Corporate Officers recognize this decision blunder to have Imprint take over their accounts before they have a mass exodus of loyal customers such as myself! Happy 4th! D. Warner

Don't even try to get any card associated with these people.
Easily one of the worst companies I've ever been associated with. I got notice that they were taking over my Shell credit card in the middle of May. I was told to destroy my Shell card on that date, and my new Shell Imprint card would arrive in 10 days. When I hadn't received my new card in two weeks, I called or contacted them online looking for my card. I was told it was in transit. A few days later I received an email telling me that new cards had been delayed, and I could download the barcode in that email and use it at the pumps. I passed on that deal.
Two weeks ago, I called once again and asked where my new card was. I was told it had been shipped, at least I think that's what the man said. Hard to tell what language he was actually speaking. It would be here last week. LAST week. Not so much. STILL not here.
I should have sold Shell short. I can't imagine how many sales they have lost.

Shell cards
Like many of you, I was recently forced to transition my longtime Shell credit card from Citibank over to Imprint Payments (backed by First Bank & Trust). This migration has been an absolute consumer disaster, and I wanted to share exactly how to fight back, who to call to bypass their broken offshore call centers, and how to protect your credit line moving forward.
The Nightmare: 14-Day Stuck Holds & Constant Declines
Every time you use the Shell App at the pump now, Imprint slaps a massive $175 pre-authorization hold on your card. Because Imprint's new tech platform is riddled with systemic migration bugs, these holds are getting permanently trapped in a "Pending" loop.
My card has had a $175 ghost hold stuck on it for 14 consecutive days. Plus a $175 pre authorization every time I try to use it at the pump. It completely exhausted my available credit, causing all future gas transactions to be wrongfully rejected and denied. When you call their standard customer service line, the offshore reps in India read from a generic script, moving the goalposts from 3 days, to 10 days, and now telling me it will take 30 days to drop!
How to Bypass the Offshore Call Center & Reach the US Bank HQ
Do not waste your time arguing with the offshore agents who have no backend system access. First Bank & Trust (headquartered in Brookings, South Dakota) is the actual chartered bank that legally owns the credit ledger. Their corporate office admitted they are being flooded with numerous complaints about this exact issue.
If your credit line is frozen, bypass the Imprint loops entirely by calling the bank's corporate headquarters directly:
📞 Direct Corporate HQ Main Line: 1-605-696-2265
📞 Toll-Free Customer Resource Line: 1-800-843-1552
📞 24/7 Cardholder Specific Line: 1-800-259-0112
What to say: Tell the receptionist: "Imprint has left a $175 pre-auth hold on my account for weeks, violating Mastercard network rules and exhausting my credit. Imprint's lines are broken. As the underlying chartered bank, I need to be transferred to an Imprint Liaison located in the United States or a Credit Program Supervisor to issue a manual Authorization Release or a temporary credit limit increase today." (This successfully forced them to escalate my case to a domestic liaison team for a callback).
How to Permanently Bypass the $175 Hold Moving Forward
If you use the Shell App because you want to protect your card details from physical Bluetooth pump skimmers, you do not have to sacrifice your credit line. You can force a $0 hold routine using these two workarounds:
Set a "Max Fuel Limit" inside the Shell App: Before activating the pump next time, look closely at the app screen and toggle the setting from "Full Tank" to a specific dollar amount (like $30 or $40). This legally forces the app to rewrite its token request. It will instruct Imprint to authorize only that exact amount, completely bypassing the default $175 block.
Use Samsung Pay / Google Pay / Apple Pay directly at the Pump Terminal: If you skip the Shell App entirely and tap your mobile wallet against the pump's contactless reader, you get 100% data encryption safety against physical skimmers. Because it bypasses the Shell App pipeline, the pump treats it as a standard contactless transaction, dropping the pre-auth hold to a standard local tier (usually $75 or less) instead of the extreme $175 app penalty.
Next Steps: File with Regulators
If you are dealing with this, please do not just sit and wait 30 days. file a report with the CFPB. Because Imprint is a FinTech, search for and list their chartered bank partner, First Bank & Trust, as the primary company, and explicitly detail Imprint's predatory hold timelines in the text box.
Let's force accountability on this terrible rollout!

Not worth the hassle
I had the HEB IMPRINT account, but I ended up closing it. I didn’t want to link my bank account because of reported issues with payment inaccuracies. They also make it unnecessarily difficult to pay with a debit card. There isn’t a debit card payment option in the app—you have to go to their website to find it. When I contacted customer service, they were unable to help, just wanted me to link my bank account. In my opinion, the small discount on HEB brand products isn’t worth the hassle.

Imprint for Shell no Customer Service and shady billing practices
1. I never authorized this card but the Shell balance carried over and authorized the card
2. Waited over an hour on three separate occasions only to have the called terminated by the automated voice
3. Paid my bill $105.00 along with a letter of cancellation but inadvertently missed .06 cents on the bill. Just received a second bill for $1.40 - $1.34 interest on a .06 cent bill.
4. Finally got through to a human who had no record of my written cancelation and wanted acct. and routing info to pay and close the account
THE VERY WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE AND SHADY OPERATION
Loyal Shell card customer since 2004 but done with Shell for good.
