My husband and I stayed in Astoria and it was not good. We were put in a room over the parking lot because we had 2 doggies. Then they sell us a package vacation and say they won't take the money out before we make the reservation... guess what... my money is gone and no reservation and now they say it's non refundable?? we were never told that on the phone... we'll never stay at a Holiday Inn ever again... rip offs!!!

A BIG RIP OFF/CANNOT BOOK A STAY
This is the biggest scam around. We have been owners for about 7 years and each year we are pressured to sit through yet another presentation. One time we upgraded and to only be lied too. When we complained somehow we were downgraded but still paying more. They talk fast with their dry jokes and phone report.
Now during COVID, we are not traveling but still paying the same outrageous mortgage every month. AND we have tried booking multiple times at our local location and cannot get a reservation. This is unfair and a complete waste of money. Save your money this is the biggest rip off ever. Rooms and common areas are not all updated. For the amount of money that we are wasting ever month we could have a very nice vacation home. They are very friendly however, I would NEVER recommend anyone to this timeshare. I CANNOT BOOK A STAY!!!!

In July
In July, 2017, my wife and I, along with some family members went on a vacation to Florida Orange Lake. In order to go on this vacation, we were required to go on a tour of the resort and attend a presentation. The presentation took much more time than we were promised—and we kept saying no and they were doing everything in their power to coerce us to buy a timeshare. We decided at some point to purchase what the salespeople promised was a vacation property. Within a minute of signing all our documents we were face with a racist comment by one of the other salespeople to our presenter. The statement that was made " you shouldn't hug her you might blow up". That statement was made because she's Pakistani. The comment was made in poor taste and I felt very uneasy about the comment. The next day I did speak with the consultant about the comment explaining to her how uncomfortable I was with the comment, and her reply was she's used to it.
Later that evening my son and niece were at the pool. They went into the restaurant area to purchase a soda. For whatever reason a man inside the bar area approached them and told them they don't belong here they're not owners. No one from the management intervened to aid my son and niece. The encounter got so out of hand the police came and made a report.
The next day we expressed our utter disappointment with the sale and decided to cancel.
So after some time they promised to “restructure” the contract to a lower price for our inconvenience. With that being said we went on another seminar in August 2018, in Myrtle Beach South Carolina. Just to find out that we wouldn't be able to be used our points at the places we would like to go.
We were told that we had to purchase another contract to become signature members because all of the properties were going to become signature properties, and our previous purchase would not qualify us to use those properties. We weren't signature property owners. We were told all properties would be signature by 2020.
The new salesman claimed to be from our area, and said he’d take good care of us. This was probably part of their scam.
With the restructuring of the contract we were told everything was going to be combined and we were only going to pay $154 more. We had no idea we were actually buying an additional timeshare. We’ve heard that this is called a “ghost trade” in the timeshare sales jargon, because it is such a common scam. They signed us up for a credit card with a $5000 line of credit and told us to make all our payments on that card. They charged the taxes from the sale to the card—we had no idea they’d done this.
As soon as we discovered that we’d been duped into purchasing an entirely new timeshare, I made countless phone calls attempting to cancel. By the time I actually reached someone, the general manager told me the rescission period had passed. Of course when he saw who was calling, he purposely dodged our calls so that the rescission period would expire.
We were invited to yet another presentation to correct the errors in December of 2018, in Williamsburg, Virginia. We spent another eight hours with someone specifically assigned to us because of our race. She kept going on about her husband being black. It was at this presentation that we finally discovered that we actually owned two timeshares. This saleswoman made us so uncomfortable with constant references to race. Finally this woman showed us a picture of her husband and he certainly was not black. As soon as they got us into the signing room, everyone deserted us there because of the snowy weather and we were left alone with the “quality assurance” person or whatever they’re called. Again, we tried to explain we just wanted out and they kept saying that this was the best solution, but in reality, it was just another commission for them.
While every one of the representatives promised to be “our representative who would always be there for us” —none of them ever contacted us again.
We want out. We want our money back. We want an apology for the racist behavior of the staff, and we want this timeshare cancelled.

Beware of the offer for a four day and…
Beware of the offer for a four-day three-night free vacation as once you agree, you can not get a refund for any reason. Even with the right of refusal with any contract in your state be it three or five days, Holiday Inn will not refund any monies. The phone attendants will simply declare that you contact via email (no phone number) Guest Relations and request your refund. However, no matter how many times you contact them, you will never receive a response from Guest Relations and the sales/tour operators simply give the excuse that they have no control over the reservation or refund. One last note, the range of pricing depends on how long you hold out during your conversation with the sales agent. It can start at $399.00 and go down to $99.00. But remember once they charge your credit card, the money is forever gone unless you have an attorney on retainer willing to send a threatening letter.
