I almost feel like there is little use in leaving a review for HireRight as their reputation is already in tatters from the hundreds of negative reviews, but I'll weigh in anyway. Just for clarity, there is nothing unusual about my background, I have only worked in one country, no criminal history etc, and I am applying for a standard job (not with the government etc). Their process has been slow, and whilst I have submitted all the requested info to them promptly, often within 30 minutes, they take days to come back to me with the next steps. Three days before I was due to start at my new job, HireRight came back to my employer to say they are missing forms and are unable to complete my check. I can currently sign in to the HireRight portal and see the documents in question, along with emails from them confirming that they have been submitted. Based on the other reviews this is common practice for them. HireRight have one job, and are failing to do that spectacularly. This is a company that should be dissolved, and I urge any customers of theirs to move to an alternative.

HireRight completely botched my background check. The company that I CURRENTLY work for was acquired by a larger group but remained under the same name. This information was provided to HireRight and they still completed my background showing a 5 year gap work discrepancy. No geniuses I still work for the same company only the ownership group changed. When verifying my education they contacted a school in Ohio. I have never even visited a state that touches Ohio much less gone to school there. If I could give the company less stars I certainly would as this has impacted me financially. The new company I was suppose to start with has pushed my hire date back until these geniuses can figure out what they are doing.

This company keeps calling me for employment verification checks for random people. I have been telling them for FIVE YEARS that they have the wrong number for the organization they are trying to reach. I have provided the correct number dozens of times (which can also be found online) and still they call me. How can HireRight verify employment when they intentionally and knowingly continue to call the wrong number for a person's employer? They can't. Edit: I provided HireRight with the information they were looking for in their response and they claim they have updated their records. I'm not holding my breath.

#1 worst customer service I've ever received. I provided several documents and pay statements, which fit the company criteria to verify my employment. I've had several background checks in my life and never have I had to do my own background check. I had to undergo two re-writes because the verification team did not review all the documents provided. I've spent several hours on the phone with customer service and receive different information every time. Background check took 3 weeks.

Such a poor background verification company. For the first time in my decade of experience, they have requested the name and contact information of the HR representative. How can a person give the HR person the name and contact information of the company they left 8 years ago, and how is it allowed? Poor verification process standards. They are not accepting pay slips. They are not accepting P45. I am not sure from which country they are operating. At least they should know the standards and legal policies of every country before starting an organization.

THIS COMPANY IS HORRIBLE THE ABSOLUTE WORST. I DONT KNOW HOW THEY ARE OPERATING OR USED. CURRENTLY GOING THROUGH a background check for the federal government. I literally have to call them 3x everyday for about the last to weeks to stay ahead of what they need. I re explain things that’s agents claim to document and each agent claims they do not see the information I provide day to day. As everyone states the language barrier from India only makes you more confused. When ask to speak to someone from America they tell you that you can’t. Why are employers using them? I literally have nightmares from these people about my information being lost. You’re literally doing their job for them. I’ll hear year everything is up to date and we don’t need anything more from you then I’ll get a notification that more information is needed after providing said info and explaining why my reports are the way they are.

I wish I could give it a zero! Terrible company, language barrier for some reason I had to deal with some French agent? Who was using some sort of translate, never explaining anything and ON TOP OF IT ALL, asked me to pay a fee of 88EUR. I had to provide everything, what do their agents do??? Just sit around and read the docs we sent them? It was super stressful and awful, if you’re a company please do not use them, they’re useless. I ended up withdrawing my application and going with another company who THANKFULLY used a competent background screen company.

DO NOT USE THIS SERVICE! Operates under company name: backgroundchecks.com This is not a reputable service company in the United States. My security company recently merged with another new company, and their wait time to vet my 20 year old business with a new application after I’d already a longtime client with their merged company - was too long, so I went searching for another one. I came across this company doing a search and they immediately asked for my credit card information, and once I gave it, they added charges before I was even doing business with them. For doing NOTHING! I’ve been trying to get those charges reversed for a week now, and dealing with this company has been an absolute nightmare! If I could give ZERO stars I would. They are not legitimate as a USA security company, and they hopefully will not be doing business much longer in the United States. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!
