They did a drug screen on me for a potential job. I didn’t give it a second thought. I’m 66 yrs old. I haven’t messed with anything illegal since the early 80’s. Lo and behold it came back positive for Cocaine. I couldn’t believe what they were saying when they called me. I told them to do a retest. A couple days later, they called me with the same result. I disputed their claim on the FMCSA Clearinghouse site. I still had to get a SAP and take the 8 hour course. Then I had to pay again to get a company to set me up for another drug test. All together it’s cost me around $800 to get my status updated. I took another drug test at my own expense. It was Negative. These people messed up my urine sample and I had to pay the price. When you call customer service, you’ll talk to some Indian. There call center isn’t in the US. This place needs to be shut down! They ruin people’s lives!

HireRight was an absolute failure from start to finish. They provided no updates, no reasons for the delays, and no professionalism. The progress bar kept getting pushed back over and over with zero explanation. Because they didn’t do their job in a timely manner, I lost the job offer I worked hard for. There is no excuse for this level of incompetence. To make matters worse, my background check is still showing “In Progress”, and the estimated completion date just keeps getting pushed forward with no real action being taken. HireRight seems more focused on being able to say they are “working on it” than actually completing anything. They keep “reaching out” without providing any steps, solutions, or meaningful progress. What makes this even more frustrating is that other background check companies, especially Sterling, are consistently professional, fast, and reliable. I’ve never had a single issue with Sterling. They complete checks quickly, communicate clearly, and don’t ask you to upload unnecessary documents because they actually do their job. Perhaps “HireWrong” is a more accurate name, because nothing about this process reflected competence or professionalism. Honestly, companies using HireRight should strongly consider switching to Sterling. They are far more efficient, far more professional, and far more committed to getting the work done correctly and on time. And to HireRight directly: any communication from you regarding this review is neither wanted nor needed. You’ve already wasted enough of my time. You didn’t communicate during the screening process when it mattered, so there’s no reason to start now just because your reputation is finally being reviewed honestly.

Very poor experience. I submitted all required W-2 forms and employment documents multiple times, yet my verification is still not completed. It feels like the documents are not even properly reviewed, just repeated requests without any real progress or explanation. Communication is vague and unhelpful, and there is no clear way to get a straight answer from support. This delay is directly affecting my job offer and start date. Extremely frustrating and unprofessional process.

I'm in Finance and trying to pay my Hireright bill. They provided bank details that are not recognised by my bank portal when trying to pay. And the invoice looks like it was made in Excel so could easily be a fake by a rougue member of staff. So I have been trying to reach out to them to but they do not respond with anything other than a case number. When I call them they won't speak with me as only one of operations team is listed in their records. But, of course, they continue to send letters demanding payment. Shambles. I can't believe that Tier 1 global companies use them - it just makes them look bad.

Despite working with experienced consultants—many of whom have completed multiple engagements with leading firms like Accenture and PwC—the onboarding experience remains unnecessarily cumbersome. The process is highly redundant, with repeated requests for the same documents (such as academic credentials) that have already been submitted and verified. This lack of continuity and coordination results in significant delays and wasted time for consultants who are otherwise ready to start work. Overall, the system feels outdated and poorly managed, with little regard for efficiency or user experience. There is a clear opportunity to streamline this process—whether through better-trained teams, improved internal coordination, or the adoption of more intelligent, automated solutions. In its current state, the experience does not meet the expectations of professionals working with top-tier organizations and would benefit from immediate improvement.

With HireRight I was delayed x 2 to start my job putting me at Hardships I do not understand why Search a long process. I called 3 x about my educational background where my transcript was sent 14 days ago and still I haven't been cleared. I was told they had everything they needed and it would be 24 hrs to complete the information still nothing . Then I was told they need the high school number to verify I don't understand what is going on you need a school number 14 days after I've sent the transcript. This is not ok I've been waiting since Apr the 3rd and my hire check still not completed. This is not ok

absolutely shit agency, ask for same docs again & again, customer care doesn't respond
