Consider Alternatives
This was the worst moving experience I have ever had. The gal who gave me a quote was wonderful, but from that point on, service was deplorable. I paid an extra $1500 for the packing service. The "packers" (I use the term loosely) arrived at noon reeking of marijuana. There were five of them, so it was hard to keep track of what they were doing and where they were. Things were haphazardly thrown into boxes with no consistency as to what room the things were from (i.e., something from the office in with something from the kitchen). None of the boxes were labeled, making the unpacking miserable. Care was not taken when wrapping glass items. I had a 150+ year old china cabinet with curved glass which showed up with one of the door's glass broken. Several other items were broken or bent. Lots of nicks and scrapes, as well. They were rude to my neighbor, when asked what they were doing (they were poking a stick at a little lizard that was in the front yard). Needless to say, their focus was not on the careful packing of my items. In addition, I was told that if I paid for everything up front, things would arrive faster. It took the full 21 days for my things to get to Iowa. I highly discourage anyone who is thinking about using this company for a move. If you are going to use them, be sure to ask enough questions before shelling out money for the packing service. I also suggest that the company hire women to do the packing - or at least train the people who are going to do it, so that care is taken when packing. It was a wasted $1500. I wish in retrospect that I would have packed everything myself. The claims process is also a joke. Pages and pages of documentation required for very little reimbursement. All-in-all, a horrible experience.
Response from GOLDEN GATE RELOCATION LLCMay 3, 2024
Golden Gate Relocation is sorry that the client feels she did not get the service she expected. Our records indicate the following: The client booked a move with us for 1800 cf. She was charged $1.00 a cubic foot for packing at pick up per the terms of her estimate. We have discussed the smoking with the crew members and they adamantly disagree. They do not remember an interaction with your neighbor or the interaction with the lizard. The client began interaction with our company on 11/14/23. She signed her first contract with us on 12/8/23 for move dates 1/5-1/6 . On 12/9 she changed her dates to 12/27-12/28. on 1/5 she changed the move dates to 2/13-2/14. on 1/23 she changed her dates to 2/28-2/29. on 2/3 she again changed her dates to 2/13-2/14. We facilitated the move on 2/13 and the client provided a FADD of 2/15. Her estimated delivery window for 1865 miles was 3-21 business days from the FADD 2/15. The client's goods were loaded on 2/28 and she was delivered on 3/6. The client was delivered in 14 business days; directly in the middle of her estimated window. The client repeatedly asked for the forms for a claim. She was provided the written instructions by email on how to handle the process. We regret that she had damages but have provided the information on filing a claim several times. The client has well aware of the valuation provided for free with her move as it was sent to her each time she changed her move date. Golden Gate Relo is sorry the client had damage to a 150 year old china cabinet (with damage only on ONE door). We have reached out to speak with the client regarding these issues and have not made contact with her.
