Terrible experience with Curb
Terrible experience with Curb. On June 5, 2023 I reserved a cab to drive us from midtown Manhattan to LaGuardia Airport, timely arrival being of the essence. Despite assurances from Curb that the cab would arrive as requested, a cab never showed. No one called; no one sought to contact us about any delay or problem. We were forced, at the last minute, to hail a cab from the street. When I reported the issue to Curb, I received no response beyond the generic claim that they couldn't be responsible for "no shows." I also noticed that I was charged $41 and change on my debit card, which was never reimbursed.
Response from CurbAug 30, 2023
Thank you for your review. We're sorry to hear that your ride request was not fulfilled in a timely fashion, and we understand the stress that this must have caused. Curb always places a temporary hold at booking to secure a valid payment method in advance, but you are never actually charged in advance. The hold is voided if your ride is canceled and most banks will remove the pending transaction on their end within 3 to 5 business days. Please also note that Curb also provides backseat credit card machines to cab companies throughout the US and beyond. If you use one of these machines to pay for a ride, you will see a charge from Curb even if you did not use the app. So, if you happened to pay for the ride that you hailed on the street using a Curb-provided credit card machine, it would make sense that you would see a charge from Curb. If you need assistance with this, please contact [email protected] and our team can investigate.
