This is the worst extension and they have the worst technical support. Was just talking to someone named "Analin" on live support since there is an issue with giving my computer permission to record my screen (a problem with MAC Catalina users they are apparently well aware of). She insisted I download an applet so that she could view and take over my screen in order to assist me, without listening to the issue being that I am not able to give my computer permission to screen record in the first place. After some rude, snappy replies, she had me restart my computer, and specifically stated "don't worry, we won't be disconnected". I restarted my computer and we were in fact disconnected.

Unprofessional with poor grasp of IT & English language
Every time I've had an exam on my mac, there's been an hours worth of connection problems. the support is overseas, who have terrible grammer & poor explanations; they refer to 'use window' instead of 'are you on a PC?' or 'oh i see you have catalina' instead of "I see you are using a Mac".
They can't answer simple IT questions during an exam, eg I said "my Excel document has frozen - are you able to take a screenshot for me before I force close it?" - they took 20 minutes of run-around with bizarre suggestions for how to open an excel document, before finally saying theyre unable to take screenshots.
Their internet connections are terrible, & it feels disrespectful to start at the exact time but then wait 20 min+ to get a proctor to connect.
I've had a proctor shut my browser with exam just after I started it so I lost 2 minutes refinding it.
Its just so unprofessional.

0 points out of 5
0 points out of 5. Pity there is no such rating value as zero. I have had to use it as a student twice so far for my exams without any other non-invasive and technically sound alternatives given to students by Chartered Accountants Ireland. What an unpleasant, invasive, technically excrutiating and tiring experience on both occasions!!! What a joke and insult to a student's intelligence and human dignity to be forced to have your private living space invaded like that and your biometric personal data collected through a webcam in your face and transferred to a region that has nothing to do with the purpose of sitting accounting exams in the EU! Invasive of my privacy both of my private quarters and my laptop and riddled with technical issues and excessively stressful for exams that require a lot of workings to go through. Long wait time to onboard (for my first exam even though my laptop had passed the technical requirements the day before the exam as I was required to test it, once I had to do the onboarding, it turned out that my proctor couldn't see my webcam and then their technical support after repeated failed attempts to fix the issue found no other solution but to re-schedule my exam three days later; and on the day of my second exam in April, ProctorU had a configuration issue and platform malfunction that delayed my exam and many of my fellow students by up to two hours by which time I was so exhausted and sick to my stomach), exam pages that constantly froze when every single second in an exam counts, technical troubleshooting services that disconnected on me when I least expected and for my first exam told me twice without any logic to reboot as if restarting my laptop was going to really solve anything at all instantly, digital pictures of my face and and my governement-issued photo ID taken each time again and again a remote unseen proctor (total strangers/unseen proctors, a different one each time ProctorU re-established their lost connection; whose IDs I never saw). Not to say that as a student, you are also required to disable your VPN and firewall protection during all that time so the proctoring service can actually run on your laptop and thus as a student, you end up having your household and laptop with all your personal information on it - an easy prey for hackers. ARE YOU KIDDING ME!!! This is the most inconceivable, unfair, invasive, inequitable and technically risky profit-driven concept forced on students' homes and biometric personal data that I have ever heard! A fascist concept if you ask me! One that sounds like stemming from the concept of mass surveillance laws that still exist in the US and the claim that students are all dishonest by nature and must be watched and video-recorded with facial recognition software forced upon them because there is no other way an institution could ensure academic integrity! ARE YOU KIDDING ME! Really?!!!!! I doubt! Check out other institutions who have have been capable of ensuring academic integrity without unduly compromising student's online privacy and student biometric data security!

Frequent technical issues that proctors refuse to troubleshoot
Proctoring is necessary for online testing, but ProctorU is absolutely terrible. I'm not sure how they choose their proctors, but many don't seem to know what they are doing. The very first time I used ProctorU for a test, my proctor never turned off his mic after I began, and I could hear his kids being loud in the background, and him talking to someone and laughing during my entire test!
Since then I have ran into frequent technical issues. I had zero issues until one week the proctor suddenly couldn't remote into my computer. I had to switch between several proctors and this took over an hour and I almost missed my testing window. The last one I finally got simply sent me a pop up to "accept" her being able to remotely control my computer. The other proctors either didn't know how or didn't think to do this.
Last week I took a quiz and again, the proctor could not remote into my computer. I asked specifically for the pop up so I could allow access, but received a canned response of "I am unable to remote into your computer. As a courtesy we will transfer you over to a support technician." Well, I was transferred between 5 or 6 different proctors over the course of TWO HOURS past my scheduled testing time. Again, I was about to actually run out of time to complete my test before it closed, and I became extremely stressed. The final proctor that connected to me asked what the issues had been, and when I told her she said it was an easy fix and next thing I knew, she was controlling my computer! It's as if the proctors are paid based on the number of tests they can proctor at any given time and therefore they will give up and "transfer" you over at the slightest technology hiccup. Most of them don't do anything to try to troubleshoot the problem! For a quiz that I was given 45 minutes to complete, I had only 15 minutes to take by the time I started 2 hours after the scheduled time. That is unacceptable! This is not an issue of poor time management on students' part. If we schedule a test at a certain time, it should not take hours to be able to actually take said test! ProctorU needs better training for their proctors, because these issues are far too common and negatively impact test takers.

This is the WORST company I have every…
This is the WORST company I have every worked with. When you schedule an exam it takes about 1 hour, not exaggerating, 1 hour hour for them to log u in and help you get started. I am. Using them for the 3rd time because it is the only option my company allows and each time is worse then before. The program is also very invasive, needs access to your entire computer. Imagine you have an exam to take, you are stressed out and nervous, you log in, and nothing works. You now contact support and are grated by a bot, not a person. Obviously the bot tells you some bull sends you back and forth in a wildwind of links and finally when you smash your laptop against your head 7x a liver person come on to tell you that you need to download the link. Next you get a procure who has limited English and a strong accent so that's always fun. Now it's time to begin.... But wait now you need do a bunch of stuff to show them that you are alone in the room and then they will allow you to begin. This is nonsense and takes significantly longer then needed. Now that you have experienced 1 hour of stress, you may begin your exam. Good luck!

I was supposed to start at 4:50pm- and…
I was supposed to start at 4:50pm- and ended up starting at 6pm. The FIRST person i had was a female, nice and helpful- but she told me my mic wasn't working, even though i had run the system and she could see it was working. She made me restart my whole computer. I did that. Then I logged back on and had to go though the whole process again. It took 10 minutes for it to find someone to help on the chat, and at this point i was okay about it- things happen.
But- I got this guy called Anthony- he was not helpful. I did the checks and everything he asked. But when i had a question- I would type it into the chat and talk into the mic as well- making sure he got it, and he took an average of 6-7 minutes to reply. He would ignore my questions and reask me to do a task. I had to ask the same question 3-4 times. It was now 5:40pm, and I was feeling anxious and upset. I ended up tearing up because I didn't know what was happening or if he was still helping me or not. Someone else joined the chat and took over my computer- they did not introduce themselves or anything, so i don't even know who was controlling my computer- seemed dodgy. It came to 5:50pm and I was a wreck. I was so upset and so confused and so distressed. I can 100% say that i am glad they videos the whole thing as I have evidence of my horrible experience!
I remember his mic turning on, and a ladies voice said "oh is this the girl that..." and he turned it on. So he was bad mouthing me behind the mic and forgot to turn it off. I hope no one goes through this ever again and if i fail- I know why. It is bad enough i studied so hard and tried my best only to be stuffed around like no one cared.

I hate proctorU so much
I hate proctorU so much. I really hope they go out of business. Horrible costumer service. I just waited for an hour because my proctor couldn't access my exam. She was using my computer so I couldn't try figuring it out myself. The second we got disconnected I found how to do it. I tried reconnecting back but I couldn't, now I have to wait for a new session.

Very poor system
I sat at my computer for a hour and a half trying to sit my exam. Contacted support to be told reboot my computer. That was unsuccessful. I have sat exams online before and never experienced a system so bad.
