Bad customer service
I would like to share my recent experience with GM Customer Service, which left me extremely disappointed and frustrated. I experienced an issue with my vehicle and contacted the dealership. After explaining the situation, the dealership advised me to contact GM Customer Service directly, as they believed GM would be able to assist. Since the vehicle was not safe to drive, I left it at the dealership. When I contacted GM Customer Service, I explained the entire situation to the representative assigned to my case. She informed me that she would contact the dealership to gather additional information. I specifically advised her that I depended on my vehicle and asked to be kept informed if the process would take an extended period of time. After waiting approximately four days without any update, I sent an email requesting a status update. I also advised that if the review process would take longer, I would require a rental vehicle because I could not remain without transportation. I received no response. I then sent a second email emphasizing the importance of the vehicle to my daily life and again requested an update. Once again, I received no response. I subsequently called GM Customer Service and spoke with another representative because the agent assigned to my case was unavailable. I was informed that she was off work. During that conversation, I expressed my frustration regarding the lack of communication and follow-up. I was assured that a manager would contact me to discuss my concerns. Unfortunately, that call never came. At that point, with no updates, no communication, and no assistance being provided, I had no choice but to proceed with the repair at my own expense. The repair cost me $1,600 out of pocket. What is most disappointing is not only the vehicle issue itself, but the complete lack of customer service throughout the process. The representative assigned to my case went off work without providing any update or informing me of the status of my case. My emails were ignored, and when I raised concerns, I was promised a call from a manager that never happened. This experience has significantly impacted my confidence in GM's customer service. I have dealt with similar situations with Volkswagen in the past, and their customer service was exceptional, with regular communication, follow-up, and clear accountability. Unfortunately, my experience with GM has been the exact opposite. As a customer, I expected better communication, better follow-through, and a genuine effort to assist me while my vehicle was out of service. Instead, I was left without answers, without transportation assistance, and ultimately responsible for the entire repair cost. I hope GM will review this matter seriously and explain why there was such a significant breakdown in communication and customer support.
